Rev. Valerie Doering Crisman, M.Div., Pastor of Mercy & Youth
Valerie was ordained to the youth pastor position at Pilgrim in 2009 but has volunteered with children and teens at the church since 2006. Valerie loves children and teens with a passion. Teaching, preaching, one-on-one counseling and discipleship are her particular strengths. A native Chicagoan, Valerie served as a volunteer chaplain at a homeless shelter on Chicago’s west side for two years prior to moving to the Boston area. She also served as a Volunteer Youth Minister in Juneau, Alaska through the Presbyterian Church’s Young Adult Volunteer Program. Valerie received a B.S. in social work from Loyola University Chicago and her M.Div. from McCormick Theological Seminary. She is married and has three children.
Rev. Dr. Jennifer Creamer, M.A., M.A., Ph.D., Pastor of Organization
Jennifer has served as the Pastor of Organization at Pilgrim
Church since 2015 and as the director of adult education since 2008. She is an
ordained minister with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Jen’s background
includes teaching in various Bible schools around the world. She has taught
with the University of the Nations on four continents since the 1990’s and
helped to establish a new campus in South Asia. Jen completed two master’s
degrees at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, one in Old Testament and one in
New Testament. She completed her Ph.D. in New Testament at North-West
University (South Africa). Jen teaches as an adjunct professor of New Testament
at Gordon–Conwell’s Boston campus in addition to her pastoral responsibilities
at Pilgrim Church.
Rev. Dr. Robert Samsel, M.Div., D.Min., Pastor of Discipleship
Bob is the Pastor of Discipleship at Pilgrim Church since 2015. He is also a church health analyst for VitalChurch Ministries and a private family therapist. Bob has been married to Dawn for 35 years and has lived in Beverly since 2001. They have two married children, two granddaughters and a grandson. Bob worked for 17 years as a software engineer before entering full time ministry; he has pastored in four churches over the past 20 years. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Bethel Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry in Family and Marriage Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
