Alpha Sigma Phi and Alpha Tau Delta
Alumni from the University of Rio Grande
Alpha Tau Delta was founded at Rio Grande College in 1929 and was the first fraternity on campus. The words Alpha Tau Delta represent honor, justice and fellowship. After disbanding a few years later it was re-founded in early 1937. The fraternity thrived for many years and disbanded again and was re-founded in 1966.
Then in 1971, Dr. Larry Spees, Ohio Wesleyan 56, and members of other chapters and the National office, approached the then members of Alpha Tau Delta and helped to establish the Delta Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi, which was founded on April 22, 1972.
Since 1966, over 530 men have been inducted into either Alpha Tau Delta or Alpha Sigma Phi. The brothers of Alpha Tau Delta and Alpha Sigma Phi are committed to academics, community service, ritual and most importantly brotherly love.
The Phoenix Association of the Delta Epsilon Chapter (The alumni Association) was established in June of 2012.
Note: Alpha Sigma Phi motto: Causa Latet Vis Est Notissima (CLVEN) "The cause is hidden, the results well-known"
