Understanding the financial
affairs of households in developing countries is key to developing policies
to improve access to financial services.
Research findings point to the importance of
financial access in the fight against poverty. Yet until recently
only limited quantitative information has been available to build our
understanding of the processes that are involved.
This website focuses on the recently growing number of data collection excercises that explore the use by individuals and households of financial assets in developing countries. It aims to provide links to as many of these as possible.
(A selection of material relating to firm surveys is also included.)
Also assembled here is a selection of econometric research papers based on financial access surveys.
