Banana Cake

This delicious basic banana cake was served for Sunday dessert often as I was grown up.  Make them into cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for another fabulous treat.

Banana Cake

-2 cups flour

-1 2/3 cups sugar

-1 1/4 tsp. baking powder

-1 1/4 tsp. baking soda

-1 tsp. salt

-2/3 cup Crisco

-2/3 cup buttermilk

-3 eggs

-1 1/4 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3)

-2/3 cup firmly chopped nuts (optional-I don't include them personally)

Combine all ingredients in order given and mix well.  Grease and flour a 13x9 pan or 3 8 inch round pans and bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.  Obviously if you're using a dark color pan you will want to really watch it as it bakes to make sure the cooking time is the same for you
