Homemade Dog Biscuits

  • 1 cup boiling or very hot water with 3 beef bouillon cubes dissolved in it
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
Combine the boiling beef broth water with the cup of oats and the butter in a large mixing bowl. Let it set for a few minute for the butter to melt and the oats to soften.  Add in the milk, peanut butter, egg, cornmeal and sugar. Mix well.  Next mix in the whole wheat flour one cup at a time. For the addition of the last cup of flour, I switched to using my hands to mix it in and to knead the mixture into a soft dough. Roll out to about a 1/4" thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out the dough. Lay on ungreased cookie sheets. You can lay them pretty close together as they do not spread out while baking.  Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. Store in airtight container far out of the reach of hungry dogs.
