Q. From a PCC Member - I have been asked to make a short presentation to a group I am in using a TV. I tried to connect to the TV to my computer, but was unsuccessful. Later, I was able to get the TV to function as a monitor for his computer using an HDMI cable. This leads me to believe that I don't have the correct settings turned on on my Mac Book Air?
A. From Tom Kreuzer, a PCC Board member. To wirelessly Mirror from your iMac to the TV uses Apple Airplay which requires both devices to be connected to the same WiFi along with other requirements. Check what WiFi the TV is connected to if any and if it supports Airplay. Your iMac needs to be connected to the same WiFi as the TV. If after you have them both on the same WiFi and if you do not see the TV listed to mirror it could be: The TV may not support Apple Airplay (Not all smart TVs do) or the TV or your iMac may be old or have a different version of the Apple Air Play hardware or software (They must match). Example the TV is most likely 10+ years old or your iMac could be old. If you have a current iPhone or iPad you could connect to the same WiFi and try it.
