'Time Flies' has received a 5 out of 5 star rating from Get Ready To Rock.com

THE MENTULLS new studio album 'Time Flies' has just received a 5 out of 5 star rating by top London music promoter Pete Feenstra, written for the magazine Get Ready To Rock.

Some of the review... "Unapologetically rooted in the 60’s but i...
nfused with a boundless youthful energy and subtle proggy overtones, The Mentulls apparently live for moments of real feel and dig deep for a mix of wholesome grooves and sonic drones, given their shape and texture by some ‘in the moment’ spontaneity.

The Mentulls comprise Andrew Pipe on guitar and vocals, Jamie Pipe on keyboards and Nick Colman on drums. And somehow they manage to create an amazing wall of sound without the glue of a bass player. Sure there are plenty of examples of bands with a keyboard player filling in the bass parts - Matt Schofield immediately springs to mind - but no other trio to my knowledge creates such a dense wall of layered sound.

‘Time Flies’ is an album with a scope way beyond the band’s tender years. The guitar tones are resonant and deep but never strained and each track is a slow building ferment that sets them on a path of boundless aural exploration".
Amedia Cymbal Endorsement
Nick is now offcially endorsed by the Amedia Cymbal Company, these cymbals look and sound absolutely epic, Check them out, http://www.amediacymbals-uk.com/.

Double Header Gig Announcement (posted 4th January 2012)

Keith Pipe and David McKown are pleased to announce a double-header concert featuring two of blues youngest and most exciting artists – The Mentulls and Alex McKown and his band.

This performance will take place at The Camerons Club, Hartlepool on Saturday 28th April 2012.

The Mentulls, led by guitarist Andrew Pipe,... have performed with the likes of Sherman Robertson Band, Oli Brown Band, Chantel McGregor and Virgil & The Accelerators. In addition they have headlined “Blues the Next Generation” at Newark Blues Festival and also appeared at The Hebden Bridge Blues Festival both in 2011.

15 year old guitarist Alex McKown was nominated for a 2011 British Blues Award and his band have performed an impressive number of gigs on the blues circuit. Alex’s band has appeared at the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival at Colne and The Zinc Blues Festival in France.

This is a rare chance to see the future of British blues at its best and what is expected to be a sensational night of music and is not to be missed

Reflection of 2011 by Manager Keith Pipe (posted 3rd January 2012)

Well, it's almost the end on 2011 and time to reflect on what has been a pretty good year for The Mentulls.

A year ago I couldn’t have dreamt they would be supporting the likes of Sherman Robertson Band, Oli Brown Band, Chantel McGregor and Virgil & The Accelerators.

The band has performed in new towns like Sedgefield, Wylam, Gosforth, Blyth, Harrogate and Derby.

...
Further highlights include playing at The Hebden Bridge Blues Festival, headlining “Blues – The Next Generation” on the main stage at The Newark Blues Festival, headlining their own gigs and the release of the latest CD “The Long Road To Home” which sold really well.

Another first was the bands live radio performance on Gary Grainger’s Bishop FM Blues Show in July.

Guitarist Andrew Pipe has “jammed” with Sherman Robertson, Oli Brown, Travis Feaster, Ian Parker and his friend Virgil McMahon – all great guitar players, and then in October he joined his heroes Wishbone Ash on stage in Clitheroe.

The saddest time of the year was the passing of Ralph Wareing of The Guisborough R & B Club - who we all greatly miss.

The band are having a few months off performing live but will take this time to write some music for a new CD which will be released later next year.
Jamie, Nick and Andrew would all like to thanks all family, friends and fans who have supported the band and look forward to seeing you all in 2012.
I would also like to thank everyone who has supported the band, especially Tommy Wormald, Rosie Potter, Christine Moore, Kath Whinnyates, Gavin Hogg and Martin Lewis.

Keith Pipe
