General Tso's Chicken

General Tso's Chicken:

*Prep Time: 10 min.  *Cook Time:  20 min.  *Difficulty:  Easy  *Servings:  4-6


For Chicken:

  • 2 Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts, cubed
  • 2 tbsp. Cornstarch
  • Salt and Pepper
For Sauce:
  • 1 tbsp. Cornstarch
  • 1/2 c. Water
  • 2 tbsp. Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 3 tbsp. Honey
  • 1 tbsp. Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp.  Fresh Ginger, grated
  • Red Chili Flake, to taste
To Finish:
  • 1 12 oz. Bag of Broccoli Florets, frozen.
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Green Onions, sliced on bias
  1. Place a deep skillet over medium/high heat, add some vegetable oil and let the pan get smoking hot.
  2. Trim and dice your chicken. 
  3. Place the chicken in a mixing bowl and add salt, pepper, and cornstarch. 
  4. Toss the chicken until it is all coated with the cornstarch.
  5. Shake off the excess cornstarch and add to the hot skillet.  Cook until the meat is cook through and the outside has started to brown.  
  6. While the chicken is cooking you can begin the sauce.  Combine the cornstarch, water, soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, and chili flake into a measuring cup.  Stir until it is all combined.  
  7. When the chicken has browned on the outside, add the frozen broccoli and cover.  Let steam and heat through, about 3 minutes.  
  8. Add the sauce to the chicken and broccoli.  Let is cook until the sauce begin to thicken.  
  9. Remove from heat and toss so that everything is coated evenly in the sauce.  
  10. Serve over some white rice and top with sesame seeds and green onions.
