SHAPE OF MY HEART
The Songs of Sting
Saturday November 4, 2017

Part of the second “new wave” generation of British artists who came of age in the late 70s, Sting distinguishes himself as one of best singer-songwriters of his time. His thoughtful lyrics and sensitive treatment of political tensions make his songs valuable snapshots of social history. His career began with one the most successful bands in UK history, The Police.  His debut solo album, Dream of the Blue Turtles, is the first of many collaborations with American jazz musicians. The Juliet Singers pay tribute to this engaged and humanitarian musician.

YOU MUST BELIEVE IN SPRING
The Music of Michel Legrand
Saturday March 3, 2018

The Juliet Singers add their voices to the chorus of performers who’ve had the pleasure of interpreting Michel Legrand’s seemingly endless repertoire. This prince of seductive melodies is still going strong at age 85, and continues to compose, conduct, sing, and write for film, ballet and sheer delight. Belonging to a rare class of composers who are equally comfortable in popular, jazz and classical genres, Legrand lives and breathes his craft. Approaching music like an eternally curious child, his work conveys his insatiable quest for beauty in sound.

M IS FOR...
Monk, Mingus, Mercer & more
Saturday June 2, 2018

Inspired by the 1988 album Carmen sings Monk, The Juliet Singers cap off their "Duet" series with “M is for…,” a selection of jazz songs by artists and composers beginning with the letter M. Carmen McRae’s inventive interpretations highlight the creative cooperation between jazz interpreters and composers. The Juliet Singers want to celebrate this process with their particular brand of vocal harmony and interplay, applied to the likes of Mingus, Mercer, Mancini and more. M is for marvelous!
