Band Stand Concerts

With Sunday evening concerts during the month of July by the Parrsboro Citizens' Band a long standing tradition in Parrsboro, the Association's musical director Rob Bentley took it upon himself to expand the 'series' to most of the Sunday evenings throughout the summer.   Beginning in early June,  a concert a week was held at the Band Stand again in 2016 starting at 7:00 pm.

As word spread, these concerts became better attended and good crowds came out every warm Sunday evening to hear and enjoy a variety of musical styles.

Each artist or group donate their time and talents to these performances, and on each evening 'the hat' is passed for donations to a charity of their choice, ranging from The LEO Club to the Food Bank.

CRYSTAL TAYLOR CONCLUDES CONCERTS AT THE PARK

Crystal Taylor took centre stage at the band stand this evening to conclude the summer's Sunday evening concert series.  It was a mild summer evening and a good turnout was treated to over an hour of terrific music, both covers of popular songs and original music written by Crystal herself.   A terrific way to end the summer with a very popular singer/songwriter who just happens to be extremely talented.

MORE WONDERFUL MUSIC AT THE PARK

The bandstand was once again filled with wonderful music yesterday evening as "Up Shore, Down Shore and Knot Sure" entertained an appreciative audience on a warm summer's evening.   Greg, Sandy and Garnett performed for over an hour to the delight of the crowd who expressed their appreciation with warm applause, and a lot of car horns.

Be sure to check out the band stand next Sunday evening at 7:00 pm.   Bring a chair, relax and enjoy the music.

DILLY AND FRIENDS FILL THE PARK WITH JOY

Dilly MacFarlane and Friends "The Bandstanders" returned to the Parrsboro Bandstand as part of Parrsboro Band Associations Sunday evening Concerts in the Park series.

The Bandstanders - Dilly Macfarlane, Ray Leclair, Charlene Thomas, Marg Fisher, Andrew Lloyd, Patrick Hanlon, Les Mackay, Ron Byers and Ron Kneis, delighted an appreciative Park audience with their collective musical talents. Just would not be a complete Summer without the appearance of Dilly and Friends at the Bandstand!

BANDSTAND FLOODED WITH SOUND BY 'HIGH TIDE'

Once again Sunday evening saw the band stand filled with great sound, laughter and applause as "High Tide" took the stage to provide a wonderful evening concert of familiar music to an appreciative audience.

Marg and Andrew Lloyd and Patrick Hanlon have become a popular trio in Cumberland County, performing at numerous locations to the delight of audiences everywhere.

There will be no Sunday evening concert next week as the Association celebrates its 46th annual BAND DAY, starting at noon.

CARL CAMERON AT THE BANDSTAND

A perfect ending to a terrific Canada Day in Parrsboro was provided by Carl, accompanied by Rob Bentley, with his terrific performance on the band stand to a great, appreciative crowd.

The weather cooperated with brilliant sun, warm temperatures, and a mild breeze to keep the bugs away as Carl performed a wide range of musical selections, all of which pleased the audience.

What better way to spend the time before the fireworks?     Once again all donations received this evening will go to a charity of Carl's choice.

ANOTHER GREAT CONCERT AT THE PARK

The weather might have been cool, damp and overcast grey but that didn't deter the group from sharing their musical warmth. Up Shore, Down Shore, Knot Sure graced the Parrsboro Bandstand on Sunday evening June 24. Fine performance by Gregg Moore, Sandra and Garnet Hendren. Look for them in and around Parrsboro this summer. I am told they have several public engagements coming up soon for you to catch them.

(Some people were obviously having far too much fun)
Wonderful Job at the Bandstand Sunday evening Sandra (not exactly sure which Shore.. or Sure you are). Too bad the weather didn't want to co-operate but the music sure did not suffer!

CONCERTS AT THE PARK FEATURES JC AND THE SENIORS

Entirely too much fun was had this evening at the band stand as JC and The Seniors rocked the evening for over an hour with vintage rock'n roll.   Led by a greased back, shade wearing Rob 'Bad Boy' Bentley (who showed an entirely new face to the crowd from behind a vintage microphone), the band played a preview of what is in store for patrons who come out Wednesday evening for a special 40th Anniversary screening of 'GREASE'.

The great sounds and enthusiastic performances had them dancing on the grass.   Who knew Kerwin had such great moves?

("What is he up to now?"  Jill and Patrick seem amazed at Rob's moves)

Next up at the band stand:   UpShore, DownShore and Not Sure.    Another great evening of music coming up next week.

A WONDERFUL EVENING OF MUSIC AT THE PARK

The second of the summer series of Sunday evening concerts at the bandstand featured "Foggy Bottom" aka Jean and Mike Booth and in spite of the cool temperatures and a bit of a breeze there was an appreciative audience on hand to hear the sounds which ranged from folk to rock.    And everyone (especially Mike in his short sleeved Hawaiian shirt) appreciated the fact that there were no bugs!
