John Burns is writer, actor and stand up comedian. Originally from Merseyside Burns has made his home in the Scottish Highlands where he has lived for over 20 years. He began writing 10 years ago and his first published work was Wind Dancer a collection of poetry inspired by his autistic daughter. The aim of the collection was to raise awareness about the problems faced by autistic people and those who care for them.
He has written a number of short stories and his ghost story about a climbing accident, Fatal Error was published by the Scottish Mountaineering Club. He has written for a wide variety of web sites including Channel4s Ideasfactory.
As a stand up, he has performed in venues from the Orkney Isles to Soho and in 2005 he brought the Highland comedy revue Raging Haggis to the Edinburgh Fringe. He also produces the highly successful Internet radio show Purple Comedy.
Like Crowley he moved to the Highlands to enjoy his passion for mountaineering and, as well as climbing across Scotland, he has climbed in the Alps, the Pyrenees, the Rockies and on Mount Kenya.
This is Burns’ first one man play and following the play's success in the 2010 Edinburgh Fringe, Purple Media plans to tour the show throughout Britain and beyond.
