"The truth as it is in Jesus is obedience to every precept of Jehovah. It is heart workBible sanctification is not the spurious sanctification which will not search the Scriptures, but will trust to good feeling and impulses rather than to the seeking for truth as for hidden treasure. Bible sanctification will lead its possessors to know the requirements of God and to OBEY them. There is a pure and holy heaven in store for those who keep God's commandments. It is worth lifelong, persevering, untiring effort. Satan is on your right hand and on your left; he is before you and behind. He supplies his falsehoods to every soul who is not cherishing the truth as it is in Jesus” RH, February 8, 1898.

No renewed heart can be kept in a condition of sweetness without the daily
application of the salt of the Word. Divine grace must be received daily, or no man will stay converted.--Our High Calling, p. 215 (1897).

Teach your children to ABHOR POPERY:

"They taught their children to abhor popery, and held that to remain at peace with Rome would be disloyalty to God. But how widely different are the sentiments now expressed
!" The Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 4, p. 380.1.

J. H. Merle D’Aubigne in his history of Protestantism says this:

”Popery is the perversion of church authority into mental tyranny.”

When I read that some years ago my heart nearly stopped for we had seen popery in Adventism Big time! Here is the free ebook to read the book this quote came out of:

Here is another link if the link above fails to work:

Ellen White and her husband used to sit by the fire reading the above book.

Here are two more excellent books:

"The message of the fall of Babylon, as given by the second angel, IS AGAIN GIVEN, with the addition of the corruptions which have been entering the [501c3 SDA] churches since 1844. The work of this angel comes in at the right time, and joins in the last great work of the third angel’s message, as it swells into a loud cry. And the people of God are fitted up every where to stand in the hour of temptation which they are soon to meet. I saw a great light resting upon them, and they united in the message, and fearlessly proclaimed with great power the third angel’s message" Spiritual Gifts, vol. 1, p. 193.2.

"Angels (Faithful men and women symbolize angels) were sent to aid the mighty angel from heaven, and I heard voices which seemed to sound everywhere, “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844Early Writings, p. 277.2.

The Midnight cry is still going forth to the professed people of God, it is the test for us, for when the Sunday law comes, probation is already past for Sabbath keepers.

God help the faithful few to stand NOW when champions are few, to fight the battles of the Lord. This is the last hour of decision time. (sanctification comes through obedience, how do we obey the THIRD MESSAGE? "Go Ye OUT to meet Him! Come OUT of her my people that ye be not partakers of her sins and receive not of her plagues, worship God only not the pagan heathen trinity of gods or Allah or the three one god, any god that denies Jesus was literally twice born - once in Heaven of the Spirit and once here on earth in the flesh)

Who abandons their position?
"As the storm approaches (7 last plagues), a large class who have professed faith in the third message, but have not been sanctified through it, abandon their position, and take refuge under the banner of the powers of darkness. By uniting with the world and partaking of its spirit, they come to view matters in nearly the same light; and when the test is brought, they are prepared to choose the easy, popular side. Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren. When Sabbath-keepers are brought before the courts to answer for their faith, these apostates are the most efficient agents of Satan to misrepresent and accuse them, and by false reports and insinuations to stir up the rulers against them." The Spirit of Prophecy Volume 4, p. 426.1

"The second angel's announcement in Revelation 14:8 is going to be repeated, but with the additional mention of the corruptions that have been entering Babylon since that message was first given" The Great Controversy 1888, p. 603.2; Last Day Events, p. 199.2; From Here to Forever, p. 367.2; Love Under Fire, p. 244.2.

"Those who think that the church militant is the church triumphant make a GREAT MISTAKE" The Upward Look, p. 152.3.

Love Under Fire, p. 244.2: “I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was illuminated with his glory. And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, ‘Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird!’ ... And I heard another voice from heaven saying, ‘Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues’” (Revelation 18:1, 2, 4).

The second angel's announcement in Revelation 14:8 is going to be repeated, but with the additional mention of the corruptions that have been entering Babylon since that message was first given.

This new message describes a terrible condition. Every time people reject truth, their minds become darker, their hearts more stubborn. They will continue to trample on one of the Ten Commandments until they persecute those who hold God's law as sacred. They reject Christ by the contempt they show for His Word and His followers.

People will claim to be religious, but their religion will become a cover for the worst evils. A belief in spiritualism (love, love everyone no matter what they do - accept gays and lesbians in the church - God loves the sinner and hates the sin - keep on sinning, God loves you is spiritualism) opens the door to doctrines of devils (trinity of gods is the foundational/central doctrine from which springs all false doctrines), and in this way evil angels will influence the churches. Babylon has filled up the measure of her guilt, and destruction is about to fall.

But God still has people in Babylon, and He must call these faithful ones out so that they will not share in her sins and “receive of her plagues.” The angel comes down from heaven, lighting up the earth with his glory and announcing the sins of Babylon. The call goes out, “Come out of her, my people.” These announcements are the final warning that goes to the inhabitants of the earth.

• Woman, Pure = True Church Jeremiah 6:2; 2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23-27

• Woman, Corrupt = Apostate church Ezk. 16:15-58; 23:2-21; Hos. 2:5; 3:1; Rev. 14:4
"Her" represents a church in Bible prophecy - either a pure or harlot church - all 501c3 churches are harlot today because they follow Satan instead of Christ in their teachings - not the Ten Commandments but rather the traditions of men=baptized paganism = Nimrod, Semiramis and Tammuz adopted by Constantine 312AD to 325AD when he created the Catholic (universal=one world church plan that has been adopted today in some points in common by ALL the various 501c3 non-profit/tax-exempt denominations in the USA today)

The powers of earth will unite in warring against the commandments of God. They will decree that “all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave” (Revelation 13:16) must conform to the customs of the church by observing the false sabbath. All who refuse will finally be judged as deserving death. On the other hand, the law of God calls for people to honor the Creator's rest day, and it threatens God's punishment against all who break its requirements.

When circumstances like these bring the issue clearly before them, all who trample on God's law to obey a human law receive the mark of the beast, the sign of allegiance to the power they choose to obey instead of God. “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation” (Revelation 14:9, 10).

Not one experiences the wrath of God until the truth has been brought home to his mind and conscience and he has rejected it. Many have never had opportunity to hear the special truths for this time. The God who reads every heart will allow none to be deceived about the issues of the controversy if they want to know the truth. Everyone will have enough light to make an intelligent decision." Love Under Fire, p. 244.2

The Restoration of Jerusalem
1Then the word of the LORD of hosts came, saying, 2"Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'I am exceedingly jealous for Zion, yes, with great wrath I am jealous for her.' 3"Thus says the LORD, 'I will return to Zion (church triumphant = 144,000 who COME OUT of the SDA church to JOIN the wedding party procession already ON IT'S WAY TO THE BRIDEGROOM'S HOUSE AND THE SUPPER OF THE LAMB which is living in the sight of a Holy God without a mediator feeding/claiming God's Bible verse promises that is the Faith OF Jesus and obeying all Ten Commandments) and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem (zion/144k/church triumphant/New Jersusalem). Then Jerusalem (Zion/church of the firstborn=144k/New Jerusalem) will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts will be called the Holy Mountain.'

"Because thou sayest, I am rich ( misapplied statement to the "church militant" and not to the "church triumphant to which this statement belongs: “The church will appear as about to fall (disappear into the wilderness - obscurity/little known to the Catholics = those who keep the commandments of God and the faith OF Jesus), BUT SHE WILL NOT FALL!” ), and increased with goods (God is with us. We stand in the light. We have the truth.), and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" Revelation 3:17.

"So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth" Revelation 3:16.

How can there be such confident assurances today, as we clearly hear the denominational leaders trumpet from the pulpits of the land, “She is the ship of God, perhaps listing badly, yet we are assured that she is sailing steadfastly into the heavenly port…. STAY WITH THE SHIP!” “She is the ‘apple of God’s eye,’ ‘the remnant church.’ DON’T GIVE UP, NOW!” “Defective and feeble though she be, -- indeed, she is not perfect, -- but God will purify His church. THE APOSTATES WILL LEAVE! DON’T BE FOUND OUTSIDE WITH THEM.” “The church will appear as about to fall, BUT SHE WILL NOT FALL!”

Does this sound familiar?!!! The messenger of the Lord warned us of this very thing happening a very long time ago. "These men were constantly saying, “God is with us. We stand in the light. We have the truth.” I inquired who these men were, and was told that they were ministers and leading men who had rejected the light themselves, and were unwilling that others should receive it." EARLY WRITINGS, PAGE 241

"They (God's remnant people) resisted the efforts which were made to fasten the cords tighter and REFUSED TO HEED the repeated assertions: “God is with us.” “We have the truth with us.” Early Writings, p. 240.2

Email from a devoted true God believer - giving the message that JOINS THE THIRD ANGEL'S MESSAGE AT JUST THE RIGHT TIME:

"This message seemed to be an addition to the third message, joining it as the midnight cry joined the second angel’s message in 1844Early Writings, p. 277.2. That talk of the "addition of the corruptions which have been entering the [501c3 SDA] churches since 1844." Spiritual Gifts, vol. 1, p. 193.2.

Dear fellow believers,

Yesterday I composed a list of more than a dozen theological errors
that have gradually crept into the Seventh-day Adventist church,
especially after the Evangelical discussions with a few GC leaders
in 1955 and 1956. As you know, the SDA church surrendered most
of it pillar beliefs. A skeleton remains...

Keep in mind this is only a short and abbreviated list of theological
issues and irregularities of the SDA church. You can think of more
errors, I am sure. I do not think I want to write a big book on these
issues, for then no one would read it.

After looking at this long list, I cannot see how a true Seventh-day
Adventist can worship in the nominal SDA church today with so
many false beliefs beginning with its false trinitarian baptismal
formula added by the Catholic church as history indicates. Acts
2:38 states that we should baptize in Jesus' name. Many other
similar verses can be quoted.

If you wish a DVD or hard copy of Trends in Adventism I and II,
please contact Malcolm McCrillis or me for a hard copy if you
are interested.

May the Lord of heaven bless you and protect you where you
are. Sara and I hope to see you again soon.

Looking forward to the blessed hope of the Lord's return,

Sara and Bill Van Grit

We believe that as we near the end of this earth's history "one subject will swallow up every other -- Christ our righteousness."  Righteousness of Christ is the TRUTH about the incarnation of the Son of God enabling the adopted children of God to be doers of His Word.

Download and print or read: The Atonment in the light of nature and the revelation JH Waggoner Please read, CHAPTER V. THE SON OF GOD DIED page 103. . . . . . . .

Example of Quotes in this book by Elder J.H. Waggoner:

The writings of J. H. Waggoner, an Adventist pioneer, about the atonement helps to bring out the problem:

"No matter how exalted the pre-existent Son was; no matter how glorious, how powerful, or even eternal; if the manhood only died, the sacrifice was only human." (J. H. Waggoner, 1884, The Atonement In The Light Of Nature And Revelation, pages 164, 165)

He is saying that if it was only a physical human that died, then there was only a human sacrifice. He goes on to say that, yes, the divine Son of God could die:

"The declaration, that the divine Son of God could not die, is as far from the teachings of the Bible as darkness is from light. And we would ask the Trinitarian, to which of the two natures are we indebted for redemption? The answer must, of course, be, To that one which died or shed his blood for us; for "we have redemption through his blood." Then it is evident that if only the human nature died, our Redeemer is only human, and that the divine Son of God took no part in the work of redemption, for he could neither suffer nor die." (J. H. Waggoner, 1884, The Atonement In The Light Of Nature And Revelation, page 173)

He is affirming that our Redeemer is both human and divine. He further says that Jesus did in fact die; He did not leave the human body to escape death. Jesus, the Son of God, did in fact die. A living soul is TOTALLY DEPENDENT upon God’s impartation of the breath or spirit of life.

Genesis 2:7: - “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

F We can see from the above verse concerning God’s creation of the first man, that it contains the following equation for human existence: -

A body that is formed from the dust of the ground God’s imparting of the breath of life = A Living Soul.

  • Throughout the Scriptures we find that our life, our very existence as a living soul is TOTALLY DEPENDENT upon God’s impartation of the breath or spirit of life.

Job 27:3: - “All the while my breath is in me, and  * the spirit of God is in my nostrils.

NOTE: - The margin has “that is, the breath which God gave him”.

JESUS IS OUR EXAMPLE IN EVERYTHING. HE CAME, NOT TO SHOW US WHAT A GOD COULD DO, BUT WHAT A MAN CAN DO BY COMPLETE TRUST IN GOD THE FATHER. "Satan suggested to his mind that if Jesus was the Son of God he could not die. (Ellen White, Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 3, page 231)

"The man Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty." SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 5, p.1129.

EGW: "But although Christ's glory was for a time veiled and eclipsed by His assuming humanity, yet He did not cease to be God when He became man...The man Christ Jesus was not the Lord God Almighty, yet Christ and the Father are one." SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 5, p.1129.

"It may be objected, If the Father and the Son are two distinct beings, do you not, in worshipping the Son and calling him God, break the first commandment of the decalogue? "No; it is the Father's will 'That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father.' We cannot break the commandment and dishonor God by obeying him. The Fathers says of the Son, 'Let all the angels of God worship him.' Should angels refuse to worship the Son, they would rebel against the Father. Children inherit the name of their Father. The Son of God 'hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than' the angels. That name is the name of his Father. The Father says to the Son, 'Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever.' Heb.1. The Son is called 'The mighty God.' Isa. 9:6. And when he comes again to earth his waiting people will exclaim, 'This is our God.' Isa. 25:9.

When Jesus had opened before his disciples the fact that he must go to Jerusalem to suffer and die at the hands of the chief priests and scribes, Peter had presumptuously contradicted his Master, saying, “Be it far from thee, Lord; this shall not be unto thee.” He could not conceive it possible that the Son of God should be put to death. Satan suggested to his mind (Peter's mind) that if Jesus was the Son of God he could not die. (Ellen White, Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 3, page 231)

"It is often asserted that this exalted one came to earth and inhabited a human body, which he left in the hour of its deathBut the Scriptures teach that this exalted one was the identical person that died on the cross; and in this consists the immense sacrifice made for man—the wondrous love of God and condescension of his only Son. John says, “The Word of life,” “that which was from the beginning,” “which was with the Father,” that exalted, pre-existent One “which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled.” 1 John 1:1, 2. (J. H. Waggoner, 1884, The Atonement In The Light Of Nature And Revelation, pages 152-154)

"It is often asserted that this exalted one came to earth and inhabited a human body, which he left in the hour of its death. But the Scriptures teach that this exalted one was the identical person that died on the cross; and in this consists the immense sacrifice made for man - the wondrous love of God and condescension of his only Son." (J. H. Waggoner, 1884, The Atonement In The Light Of Nature And Revelation, pages 152-154)

Just like it's OUR "human (carnal) nature" that has to die, through the death of Christ's sacrifice for us. We claim as our very own, Christ's death/sacrifice for us. It's the atonement for our "carnal" nature.

"Pointing to the palms of His hands, pierced by the fury and prejudice of wicked men, He says of us, "I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands" [Isaiah 49:16]. The Father bows in recognition of the price paid for humanity, and the angels approach the cross of Calvary with reverence." -- Manuscript 21, 1895.

Satan suggested to his mind (Peter's mind) that if Jesus was the Son of God he could not die. (Ellen White, Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 3, page 231)

I do not want "Satan" suggesting to our minds today - that Jesus as the Son of God could not die completely for us.

"he left in the hour of its deathThis is spiritualism - a soul winging it's way to Heaven or hanging around somewhere - in purgatory, for example. This is another prime example why believing in three gods trinity or tritheistic flavors or versions of God IS so wrong and fatal (upon understanding) to eternal life.

Ellen White never rebuked J. H. Waggoner for his position, in fact she wanted all the pioneers in the work to be published as truth for TODAY. This is definitely a non-trinitarian non-tritheistic doctrine - the truth about God and His Son = the pure Gospel = sin sick healing truth - truth that will make those who believe and are doers of it Holy/perfect like it's author. Truth is perpetual. It does not change or take on false traditions as hitchhikers to sooth the conscience.

Remember the Command?

“Let the aged men who were pioneers in our work speak plainly, and let those who are dead speak also, by the reprinting of their articles in our periodicals.”—Manuscript 62, 1905, cited in “The Integrity of the Sanctuary Message.”

“We are to REPEAT THE WORDS of the pioneers in our work, who knew what it cost to search for the truth as for hidden
treasure, and who labored to lay the foundation of our work. . . . The word given me is, Let that which these men have written in the past be reproduced.”—Review and Herald, May 25, 1905.

Sister White says, "When we want a deep problem to study, let us fix our minds on the most marvelous thing that ever took place in earth or heaven—the incarnation of the Son of God." That I May Know Him, p. 25.2S.D.A. Bible Commentary Vol. 7, p. 904.6

Christ's perfect humanity is the same that man may have through connection with Christ. As God, Christ could not be tempted any more than He was not tempted from His allegiance in heaven. But as Christ humbled Himself to the nature of man, He could be tempted. He had not taken on Him even the nature of the angels, but humanity, perfectly identical with our own nature, except without the taint of sin. A human body, a human mind, with all the peculiar properties, He was bone, brain, and muscle. A man of our flesh, He was compassed with the weakness of humanity. The circumstances of His life were of that character that He was exposed to all the inconveniences that belong to men, not in wealth, not in ease, but in poverty and want and humiliation. He breathed the very air man must breathe. He trod our earth as man. He had reason, conscience, memory, will, and affections of the human soul which was united with His divine nature. {16MR 181.4}

Our Lord was tempted as man is tempted. He was capable of yielding to temptations, as are human beings. His finite nature was pure and spotless, but the divine nature that led Him to say to Philip, "He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father" also, was not humanized; neither was humanity deified by the blending or union of the two natures; each retained its essential character and properties. {16MR 182.1}

But here we must not become in our ideas common and earthly, and in our perverted ideas we must not think that the liability of Christ to yield to Satan's temptations degraded His humanity and He possessed the same sinful, corrupt propensities as man. {16MR 182.2}

The divine nature, combined with the human, made Him capable of yielding to Satan's temptations. Here the test to Christ was far greater than that of Adam and Eve, for Christ took our nature, fallen but not corrupted, and would not be corrupted unless He received the words of Satan in the place of the words of God. To suppose He was not capable of yielding to temptation places Him where He cannot be a perfect example for man, and the force and the power of this part of Christ's humiliation, which is the most eventful, is no instruction or help to human beings. {16MR 182.3}

But the facts of this history are not fable, but a living, acting, experience. [To deny this] would rob Jesus of His greatest glory--allegiance to God--which enshrouded Him as a garment in this world on the field of battle with the relentless foe, and He is not reckoned with the transgressor. He descended in His humiliation to be tempted as man would be tempted, and His nature was that of man, capable of yielding to temptation. His very purity and holiness were assailed by a fallen foe, the very one that became corrupted and then was ejected from heaven. How deeply and keenly must Christ have felt this humiliation. {16MR 183.1}

How do fallen angels look upon this pure and uncontaminated One, the Prince of Life, through the different stages of His humiliation? They look upon the scene, the Son of the living God humiliated to take upon Himself the nature of man and meet the strong man armed with all his weapons of deception and falsehood to overcome Jesus Christ. And every victory gained, how precious it is in behalf of the human family, exalting, elevating, ennobling the workmanship of God; and Satan has been at work for centuries, degrading, debasing, and prostituting all his powers to do his hellish work. {16MR 183.2}

The humanity of Christ received the fallen foe and engaged in battle with him. He was sustained in the conflict by divine power just as man will be sustained by his being a partaker of the divine nature. He gained victory after victory as our Champion, the Captain of our salvation, and the divine approval of God and all the universe of heaven flowed into His soul. His nature was shocked almost unto death, but the heavenly angels ministered unto the suffering One. {16MR 183.3}

All heaven rejoiced because humanity, the workmanship of God, was placed in an elevated scale with God by the signal victory gained. Christ was more than conqueror, leaving the way open that man may be more than conqueror through Christ's merits, because He loved him. The Son of the infinite God is brought into the tenderest sympathies with the tempted church. He knows how to succor those who shall be tempted, because He was Himself tempted.--Ms 57, 1890. (Transcribed from Diary Book No. 14, pp. 272-283; 293-295.)

I will try to answer this important question: As God He could not be tempted: but as a man He could be tempted, and that strongly, and could yield to the temptations. His human nature must pass through the same test and trial Adam and Eve passed through. His human nature was created; it did not even possess the angelic powers. It was human, identical with our own. He was passing over the ground where Adam fell. He was now where, if He endured the test and trial in behalf of the fallen race, He would redeem Adam's disgraceful failure and fall, in our own humanity. {6MR 111.1}

A human body and a human mind were His. He was bone of our bone and flesh of our flesh. He was subjected to poverty from His first entrance into the world. He was subject to disappointment and trial in His own home, among His own brethren. He was not surrounded, as in the heavenly courts, with pure and lovely characters. He was compassed with difficulties. He came into our world to maintain a pure, sinless character, and to refute Satan's lie that it was not possible for human beings to keep the law of God. Christ came to live the law in His human character in just that way in which all may live the law in human nature if they will do as Christ was doing. He had inspired holy men of old to write for the benefit of man: "Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me." Isaiah 27:5. {6MR 111.2}

Abundant provision has been made that finite, fallen man may so connect with God that, through the same Source by which Christ overcame in His human nature, he may stand firmly against every temptation, as did Christ. He was subject to inconveniences that human nature is subjected to. He breathed the air of the same world we breathe. He stood and traveled in the same world we inhabit, which we have positive evidence was no more friendly to grace and righteousness than it is today. {6MR 111.3}

The higher attributes of His being it is our privilege to have, if we will, through the provisions He has made, appropriate these blessings and diligently cultivate the good in the place of the evil. We have reason, conscience, memory, will, affections--all the attributes a human being can possess. Through the provision made when God and the Son of God made a covenant to rescue man from the bondage of Satan, every facility was provided that human nature should come into union with His divine nature. In such a nature was our Lord tempted. He could have yielded to Satan's lying suggestions as did Adam, but we should adore and glorify the Lamb of God that He did not in a single point yield one jot or one tittle. {6MR 112.1}

Through being partakers of the divine nature we may stand pure and holy and undefiled. The Godhead was not made human, and the human was not deified by the blending together of the two natures. Christ did not possess the same sinful, corrupt, fallen disloyalty we possess, for then He could not be a perfect offering.--Ms 94, 1893, pp. 1-3. ("Could Christ Have Yielded to Temptation?" June 30, 1893.) {6MR 112.2}

Christ did not seek to be thought great, and yet He was the Majesty of heaven, equal in dignity and glory with the infinite God. He was God manifested in the flesh. What a rebuke is the life of Christ to everything like self-conceit, self-exaltation, seeking to be great among men! He was a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. Wonder, O heaven, and be astonished, O earth! The divine nature in the person of Christ was not transformed in human nature and the human nature of the Son of man was not changed into the divine nature, but they were mysteriously blended in the Saviour of men. He was not the Father but in Him dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and yet He calls to a suffering world, "Come unto me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." --Letter 8a, 1890, pp. 2, 3. (To M. J. Church, July 7, 1890.)

The charge is made that Ellen White contradicted herself:

"Men have gone to opposite extremes in the discussion of the doctrine of the Trinity. Some have made Christ a mere man, commencing his existence at his birth in Bethlehem; others have not been satisfied with holding him to be what the Scriptures so clearly reveal him, the pre-existing Son of God, but have made him the 'God and Father' of himself." Review and Herald, July 6, 1869.

"But if I am asked what I think of Jesus Christ, my reply is, 'I believe all that the Scriptures say of him. If the testimony represents him as being in glory with the Father before the world was, I believe it. If it is said that he was in the beginning with God, that he was God, that all things were made by him and for him, and that without him was not anything made that was made, I believe it. If the Scriptures say he is the Son of God, I believe it. If it is declared that the Father sent his Son into the world, I believe he had a Son to send...

It is the will of the Father that we should thus honor the Son. In doing so we render supreme honor to the Father. If we dishonor the Son, we dishonor the Father; for he requires us to honor his son. "But though the Son is called God yet there is a 'God and Father of our lord Jesus Christ' 1Pet. 1:3. Though the Father says to the Son, 'Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever,' yet, that throne is given him of his Father; and because he loved righteousness and hated iniquity, he further says, 'Therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee.' Heb. 1:9. 'God hath made that same Jesus both Lord and Christ.' Acts. 2:36. The Son is 'the everlasting Father,' not of himself, nor of his Father, but of his children. His language is, 'I and the children which God hath given me.' Heb. 2:13." Review and Herald, June 1, 1869.

The Bible clearly says that we CAN understand and know God & His Son. (Jer 9:24. In fact, it IS LIFE ETERNAL, that we KNOW and UNDERSTAND both God and His Son. Just exactly how the incarnation took place or all of it's aspects - no, it has not been revealed to us - only what is necessary has been revealed to us at this time. But to say that Christ is immortal = means cannot die, is to say that HE is the Father. Because the Bible clearly says that only God the Father has immortality. Now, as I understand it, Christ is NOW immortal, after being raised from the dead, the FIRSTBORN of the dead. (Colossians 1:15-18, Rev 1:18)

In Jer 9:24 it says, (KJV) "But let him that glorieth =(brag/boast/self-praise/vaunt/joy/treasure/pride & joy/conceit/smugness/peace of mind/self-satisfaction) glory in this, that he UNDERSTANDETH and KNOWETH me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord."

- IMMORTAL means what? UNDYING! ( Look it up in the dictionary/concordance... this is what I do. It helps me to define my position. Why could God the Father not die for us? Because HE was IMMORTAL - 1 Tim 6:16 "who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen." We HAVE seen Jesus! He is our ONLY mediator BETWEEN GOD and mankind.

Remember, "His life alone could be sufficient to ransom fallen man." --Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 2, page 9, also in Lift Him Up, page 24; and "The two expressions human and divine were, in Christ, closely and inseparably one, and yet they had a distinct individuality."  {ST, May 10, 1899 par. 11}

"The Son of God was next in authority to the great Lawgiver. He knew that His life alone could be sufficient to ransom fallen man." --Spirit of Prophecy, vol. 2, page 9, also in Lift Him Up, page 24

 "The two expressions human and divine were, in Christ, closely and inseparably one, and yet they had a distinct individuality."  {ST, May 10, 1899 par. 11}

"The nature of God, whose law had been transgressed, and the nature of Adam, the transgressor, meet in Jesus--the Son of God and the Son of man..."  {17MR 338.1}

Here is further proof that Christ completely died, just as the Bible claims, and His Father & God did not from:

We become SUPER HUMAN when God plants the seed of His Son in our minds. God plants Jesus IN our minds. Our mind becomes the mercy seat of God's Son and God Himself. THIS is where the Shekinah Glory (to dwell) rests. IF WE are resting (from our own works) and letting Christ & His Father shine out of our lives = filled with the Holy Spirit through Christ's indwelling presence and power (character=thoughts and feelings), this is SUPER HUMAN! We still have our individuality tempered by Christ & His Father's combined indwelling Spirit. Are you filled with the Spirit of God? We can tell by our words, thoughts and actions. Are we agents of Satan or Christ?

DIVINE (GODLIKE NATURE/CHARACTER/thoughts and feelings) vs EVIL (CARNAL/HUMAN NATURE/CHARACTER=thoughts and feelings)

"The office of the Holy Spirit is to take the things of Christ as they fall from His lips, and infuse them as living principles into the hearts opened to receive them. Then we will know both (two) the Father and the Son." --Manuscript Releases Volume Fourteen [Nos. 1081-1135], p. 174.2, The Ellen G. White 1888 Materials, p. 799.1

Holy Spirit = "The DIVINE SPIRIT that the world’s Redeemer promised to send IS the PRESENCE and POWER (character) of God.ST November 23, 1891, par. 1Ye Shall Receive Power, p. 39.5

"Character IS power.” {COL 340.2} defined further in Gal 5:23-24

What does “Character” consist of exactly?

"The thoughts and feelings combined make up the moral character."  Messages to Young People, p. 92.1

Merriam-Webster says “Character” is “The mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.” Also known as  our  nature, personality, temper, figure, disposition.

R. & H., Book 2, p. 530: - "Compassion beamed from his [that is, Christ - compiler] countenance, and his conduct was characterized by grace, humility, truth, and love. Every member of his church militant must manifest the same qualities, if he would join the church triumphant." {RH, November 17, 1891 par. 12}

"Those who think that the church militant is the church triumphant make a GREAT mistake." E.G. White, The Upward Look, 152.

"My work will not be hence forth to make any one believe but go forward, out of the atmosphere of unbelief and caviling and criticism. I have more freedom speaking to unbelievers than to those who hold responsible positions, and who have had so great light and great opportunities and have not responded to the light. I have placed my case as I have never before in the hands of my Advocate, Jesus Christ, the Righteous. I am sure that I cannot feel at liberty to converse as I have done with those to whom I have talked so freely." The Ellen G. White 1888 Materials, p. 799.1

"The truths that have been substantiated by the manifest working of God are to stand fast. Let no one presume to move a pin or a foundation stone from the structure. Those who attempt to undermine the pillars of our faith are among those of whom the Bible says that “in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” Letter 87, 1905 Ellen White

The structure of truth the real ship

"The truth is the same as it ever has been, and not a pin or a pillar can be moved from the structure of truth. That which was sought for out of the Word in 1844, 1845, and 1846 remains the truth in every particular." Letter 38, 1906 Ellen White

Knowing that the General Conference has left these waymarks can we assume that this ship is not being guided by God?

Some of those who are newly come to the faith claim to have special light from God in regard to these messages; but their new light leads them to set aside the established truths that are the pillars of our faith. They misinterpret and misapply the Scriptures. They misplace the messages of Revelation 14, and set aside the work which these messages have accomplished. Thus they reject the great waymarks which God Himself has established. Since their new light leads them to tear down the structure which the Lord has built up, we may know that He is not guiding them. {1888 804 Ellen White}

Rev 14:7  Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him;

Do you know him singular?  Is your God a individual, or is it a trinity? Who is guiding him or it [the impersonal trinity]?

Are they (modern SDA's) still standing on the platform of truth?  Who still hold to the fundamental principles and pillars of our faith?

I know from the light that God has given me that there should be a revival of the messages that havebeen given in the past, because men will seek to bring in new theories, and will try to prove that these theories are scriptural, whereas they are error, which, if allowed a place, will undermine faith in the truth. We are not to accept these suppositions and pass them along as truth. No, no; we must not move from the platform of truth on which we have been established. {UL 199 Ellen White}

The Lord has declared that the history of the past shall be rehearsed as we enter upon the closing work. Every truth that He has given for these last days is to be proclaimed to the world. Every pillar that He has  established is to be strengthened. We cannot now step off the foundation that God has established. . . .There is need now to rehearse the experience of the men who acted a part in the establishment of our work at the beginning. Ms 129, 1905 Ellen White

Not one pin is to be removed from that which the Lord has established. The enemy will bring in false theories… there will be a departing from the faith. Where shall we find safety unless it be in the truths that the Lord has been giving for the last fifty years? {Ellen WhiteRH, May 25, 1905 par. 28}

In a vision of the night I was shown distinctly that these sentiments have been looked upon by some as the grand truths that are to be brought in and made prominent at the present time. I was shown a platform, braced by solid timbers—the truths of the Word of God... This foundation was built by the Master Worker, and will stand storm and tempest. Will they permit this man to present doctrines that deny the past experience of the people of God? The time has come to take decided action.”

The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church, would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error.A new organization would be established. (Questions on Doctrines, Book Evangalism inserts of error taking SOP out of context etc.) Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy (trinity doctrine -paul warns against philosophy -intellectual concept of God Colossians 2:8) would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded,

Modern SDA church now says: "God is glad for us to go to church BOTH days [Saturday and Sunday]. He wants us to worship Him BOTH days." (ST, 3/1990, p. 22-23).

as also the God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure. {Ellen White 1SM 204-205}

The doctrines were changed, in this the religion has been changed, and God is removed. They haveleft the faith delivered to the saints in 1844-1894.

“The history of the early experiences (historical SDA doctrines) in the message will be a power to withstand the masterly ingenuity of Satan's deceptions.” EGW, Letter 99, 1905.

"Romanists have persisted in bringing against Protestants the charge of heresy and willful separation from the true church. But these accusations apply rather to themselves. They (Modern SDA's) are the ones who laid down the banner of Christ and departed from “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Jude 3.  {Ellen White GC 51}

NOTE: - All Bible texts are taken from the King James Version; and the compiler has supplied all emphasis throughout this article.

F Throughout both Testaments of the Holy Scriptures, the Bible writers have consistently portrayed death as being a state of unconscious sleep. This teaching is repeated over and over again in the Scriptures. Let us look at the Biblical evidence to clearly establish this truth in our minds.

  • It would be wise to briefly examine from the outset the necessary qualities that we all need to have to be living beings. The following Divine equation for human life has been laid down by our Creator from the very beginning of human existence.

Job 33:4: - “The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

Isaiah 42:5: - “Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein.

Acts 17:24 & 25: - “God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.”

Acts 17:28: - “For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.”

  • The soul or life of every living thing and the breath of all humanity is in the hand or power of the Lord.

Job 12:9 & 10: - “Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?In whose hand is the  *soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

NOTE: - * The margin has “Or, life”.

  • When God takes away the breath or spirit of life, we die and turn to dust again.

Job 34:14 & 15: - “If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

Psalms 104:29 & 30: - “Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.

Ecclesiastes 12:7: - “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”

NOTE: - The spirit that Solomon is referring to as returning to God who gave it when a person dies, is obviously the breath or spirit of life.

  • God decreed that because of Adam’s sin, he would turn to dust again.

Genesis 3:19: - “In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou [art], and unto dust shalt thou return.”

  • Job during his affliction wondered aloud why he did not die at birth, for if he had done so, then he would lie still and sleep and be at rest.

Job 3:11 - 13: - “Why died I not from the womb? [why] did I [not] give up the ghost when I came out of the belly? Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck? For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest.”

The righteous man Job recognized that death was a state of sleep in the dust of the earth, until the time comes when man was to be awakened from his sleep, when the present heavens are no more.

Job 7:21: - “And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away mine iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I [shall] not [be].

Job 14:12 - 14: - “So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens [be] no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!  If a man die, shall he live [again]? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

  • The Psalmist has likened death to a state of sleep.

Psalms 13:3: - “Consider [and] hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the [sleep of]    death.

  • The prophet Daniel records the fact that the dead sleep in the dust of the earth, from which state they will be awakened to receive their eternal rewards.

This isn't hard people, be hot or cold...but this lukewarm stuff has got to go.Daniel 12:2: - “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame [and] everlasting contempt.”

  • The Lord himself told Moses that he was to sleep with his fathers.

Deuteronomy 31:16: - “And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go [to be] among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.”

  • Concerning the kings of Israel and Judah, we find it repeatedly stated that they slept with their fathers and were buried. Clearly, the verb “slept” is being used as a figure of speech to describe their deaths.

The Lord through his prophet Nathan predicted that when king David had fulfilled his days (that is, when he had come to the end of his life), he would sleep with his fathers.

2 Samuel 7:12: - “And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.”

Finally the above prediction from the Lord concerning king David was fulfilled and he died and slept with his fathers.

1 Kings 2:10: - “So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.”

1 Kings 11:21: - “And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.”

Concerning king David, the inspired apostle Peter on the Day of Pentecost in the Book ofActs, approximately 1, 000 years after David’s death and burial, preached while being full of the Holy Spirit, that David was still dead and buried, and had not ascended up to heaven.

Acts 2:29, 34 & 35: - “Men [and] brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. …  For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, until I make thy foes thy footstool.”

In fact, the inspired apostle Paul preached that David after having served his own generation fell upon sleep, and saw corruption.

Acts 13:36: - “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption.

  • We have the following other examples concerning the kings of Israel and Judah dying and sleeping with their fathers.

1 Kings 11:43: - “And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.”

1 Kings 14:20: - “And the days which Jeroboam reigned [were] two and twenty years: and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead.”

1 Kings 14:31: - “And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name [was] Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.”

1 Kings 15:8: - “And Abijam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead.”

1 Kings 15:24: - “And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead.”

1 Kings 16:6: - “So Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah: and Elah his son reigned in his stead.”

  • Jesus is recorded as describing two dead people who he later brought back to life, as being asleep. Jairus’ daughter and Lazarus are both described by Jesus as being asleep, while they were dead.

Luke 8:49 - 56: - “While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's [house], saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard [it], he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.  And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.”

John 11:11 - 14: - “These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well. Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

  • At the time of Jesus’ resurrection, many of the saints who were sleeping arose from their graves, and appeared to many within the city of Jerusalem.

Matthew 27:51 - 53: - “And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

  • The faithful deacon Stephen who was the first recorded Christian martyr was stoned to death, and Luke the writer of the Book of Acts records the simple truth that he fell asleep.

Acts 7:59 & 60: - “And they stoned Stephen, calling upon [God], and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

  • Paul in his counsel on marriage in his 1st epistle to the Corinthians, states the principle that a wife is bound by the law of marriage as long as her husband is alive; but she is free to remarry if her husband is dead (that is, if he has fallen asleep).

1 Corinthians 7:39: - “The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.”

NOTE: - The Greek verb that is translated in the KJV as “be dead” is the word “koimao” – See Strong’s Concordance; Greek, No. 2837. It is defined as: - “sleep, fall asleep. 1. literally …. 2. figuratively of the sleep of death.”[1] The phrase that is translated in the KJV as but if her husband be dead”, literally reads as “but if her husband has fallen asleep”, thus contrasting clearly the husband being alive in the first half of this verse, with the husband being asleep or dead in the second part of this verse.

  • Paul warned the Corinthians that because many professed believers had partaken of the Lord’s Supper unworthily, many were sick and sleeping (that is, they were dead).

1 Corinthians 11:28 - 30: - “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of [that] bread, and drink of [that] cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many [are] weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.”

  • Paul teaches us that Christ’s resurrection from the dead is the foundation upon which the resurrection of the righteous dead is based upon; he refers to those who are dead in Christ as having fallen asleep.

1 Corinthians 15:12 - 18: - “Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then [is] our preaching vain, and your faith [is] also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith [is] vain; ye are yet in your sins. Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

1 Corinthians 15:20 - 23: - “But now is Christ risen from the dead, [and] become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man [came] death, by man [came] also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.

  • Paul records the truth that of the more than 500 brethren who had seen Jesus all at the same time after his resurrection, some of them had fallen asleep by the time he wrote his 1st epistle to the Corinthians.

1 Corinthians 15:6: - “After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

  • The apostle Peter referring to the last day mockers and scoffers, records the same truth as the Old Testament writers, that the fathers have fallen asleep, that is that they have died.

2 Peter 3:3 & 4: - “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.”

  • The apostle Paul has made it abundantly plain that the dead in Christ are asleep until the time of the “last trump” and the 2nd Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, when the dead saints shall be awoken from their sleep and be clothed with incorruption and immortality.

1 Corinthians 15:50 - 55: - “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory?”

1 Thessalonians 4:13 - 18: - “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

  • The Psalmist will be satisfied when he awakes with God’s likeness, which the apostle Paul informs us is at the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ, when our present mortal and corruptible bodies shall be made like to Christ’s glorious body.

Psalms 17:15: - “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Philippians 3:20 & 21: - “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.”

  • Lest some Christians claim that while they may accept the repeated statements of the Scriptures that liken death to a state of sleep, they would still cling to the popular tradition that the dead have a conscious existence in the grave, the following Scriptures make it clear, that death is a state of unconscious sleep.

Psalms 115:17: - “The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

Psalms 146:3 & 4: - “Put not your trust in princes, [nor] in the son of man, in whom [there is] no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6 & 10: - “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any [thing] that is done under the sun.  …  Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for [there is] no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

F Death therefore is not to be feared as it is merely a state of sleep; but rather, it is the future Judgment and which one of the two resurrections a person will be raised up in to receive their eternal reward, that is the essential point to concentrate our minds and energies upon.

John 5:28 & 29: - “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.”

Hebrews 9:27: - “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

Signs of the Times by EGW, May 3, 1899 The Word Made Flesh.

"And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath He reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight; if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the Gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; . . . whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the Word of God; even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to His saints; to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." Col. 1:21-27

Christ came to this earth working the works of God, healing the sick, and raising the dead to life. "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men." But the priests and rulers of the Jewish nation refused to acknowledge Him as the Messiah. "He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not." John 1:4, 11.

The scribes and Pharisees accused Christ of blasphemy because He made Himself equal with God. But He promptly met and denied their accusations. "Art Thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead?" John 8:53, they asked Him; "whom makest Thou Thyself?" Jesus answered: "If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing; it is My Father that honoreth Me; of whom ye say, that He is your God; yet ye have not known Him, but I know Him; and if I should say, I know Him not, I shall be a liar like unto you; but I know Him, and keep His saying. Your Father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto Him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast Thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am." John 8:58.

Here Christ shows them that, altho they might reckon His life to be less than fifty years, yet His divine life could not be reckoned by human computation. The existence of Christ before His incarnation is not measured by figures.

"Before Abraham was, I am." Abraham greatly desired to see the Messiah in His day. He offered up the most earnest prayer that he might see Him before He died. "He looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. . . . Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the seashore innumerable. These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth."

But Abraham saw Christ. A supernatural light was given him, and he acknowledged Christ's divine character. He had a distinct view of Christ, the Messiah. He saw His day, and was glad. He was given a view of the divine Sacrifice for sin. It was Jesus Christ that had promised him, "Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them; and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be."

But Abraham was tested. The command came for him to take his son, his only son, Isaac, and offer him as a sacrifice upon a mountain which God would show him. O, in what an agony of conflicting emotion Abraham bowed at the foot of the altar which he had reared for Jehovah, praying for light! But the more he prayed, the darker his mind became. He heard the command, "Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt-offering." He thought of the promise, "As the stars, so shall thy seed be," yet he was on his way to sacrifice the son in whom this hope was centered. With his own hand, by the divine command, he must cut off the only hope of having this promise made true.

But as Abraham stood with knife upraised to obey God, his hand was stayed, and he heard a voice, saying, "Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him; for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from Me."

This terrible ordeal was imposed upon Abraham that he might see the day of Christ, and realize the great love of God for the world, so great that, to raise it from its degradation, He gave His only-begotten Son to a most shameful death.

Abraham learned of God the greatest lesson ever given to mortal. His prayer that he might see Christ before he should die, was answered. He saw Christ; he saw all that mortal can see and live. By making an entire surrender, he was able to understand the vision of Christ, which had been given him. He was shown that in giving his only-begotten Son to save sinners from eternal ruin, God was making a greater and more wonderful sacrifice than ever man could make.

"And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh; as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen." This was kept in mind by the Jews. When brought into the most difficult places, where there seemed to be no way of deliverance, they would say, "In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen."

This lesson was of great value to all Israel. By it Abraham was shown that God does not require parents to offer their sons and daughters for the sins of the world. This was done by heathen nations, and at times had been practised by the people calling themselves the Israel of God. But they were ever to bear in mind that no human being can be accepted as a sin-offering. The Son of God alone can bear the guilt of the world.

"Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at Him; but Jesus hid Himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by." What a history is this! The Jews were so blinded by the deception of the enemy that, without any form of trial, they would have stoned Christ to death. They saw that He made Himself equal with God, and because they had no knowledge of God or of Jesus Christ, they thought this to be blasphemy. Had they had a knowledge of God, they would not have rejected His Son, and charged Him with blasphemy.

How many today are passing over the same ground! In their ignorance of God, in their misinterpretation of His Word, men wrest the Scriptures to their own destruction. They cherish error as truth, and have a zeal not according to knowledge.

The incarnate I AM is our abiding Sacrifice. The I AM is our Redeemer, our Substitute, our Surety. He is the Daysman between God and the human soul, our Advocate in the courts of heaven, our unwearying Intercessor, pleading in our behalf His merits and His atoning sacrifice. The I AM is our Saviour. In Him our hopes of eternal life are centered. He is an ever-present help in time of trouble. In Him is the assurance of every promise. We must acknowledge and receive this almighty Saviour; we must behold Him, that we may be like Him in character. "As many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name."

John the Baptist sent messengers to Christ, saying, "Art Thou He that should come, or look we for another?" Jesus said to the messengers, "Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the Gospel is preached."

The divinity of Christ's religion is shown in its adaptability to meet suffering humanity, its condescension to a low estate. Its glory is reflected upon those who receive it. But the Pharisees could not believe it; for they looked for a Saviour who was never promised. The Gospel is to be preached to the poor--not to the spiritually proud, those who claim to be rich, and in need of nothing, is it revealed, but to those that are humble and contrite. One fountain only has been opened for sin, a fountain for the poor in spirit. It is free to all who thirst for the water of life. "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price."

Jehovah is the name given to Christ. "Behold, God is my salvation," Isa. 12 & 85. writes the prophet Isaiah; "I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day ye shall say, Praise the Lord, call upon His name, declare His doings among the people, make mention that His name is exalted." "In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever; for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

"I am the living bread which came down from heaven," John 6:35. Christ declared; "if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world . . . Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth My flesh, and drinketh My blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is meat indeed, and My blood is drink indeed." Verse 52.

Mrs. E. G. White.

Preach the Living Word !

And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, no so much as about the door . . . . And He (Jesus, Yehushua) proclaimed the Word unto them !”   Mark 2:1-12

And they were astonished at His teaching, for His Word was with power. . . !”   Luke 4:32 & I Thessalonians 2:13

“To my ministering brethren I would say, Preach the Word. Do not bring to the foundation wood, hay, and stubble,–your own surmisings and speculations, which can benefit no one. Subjects of vital importance are revealed in the Word of God, and these are worthy of our deepest thought. But we are not to search into matters on which God has been silent . . . .

When questions arise upon which we are uncertain, let us ask, What saith the Scripture?

     And if the Scripture is silent upon the question at issue, let it not be made the subject of discussion. Let those who wish for something new, seek for that newness of Life resulting from the new birth. Let them purify their souls by obeying the Truth . . . . Thy Word is Truth (Verity), and act in harmony with the instruction that Christ has given.      ref: John 17:17

     The only question asked in the judgment will be, “Have they been obedient to My commandments?” Petty strife and contention over questions of no importance has no part in God’s great plan. Those who teach the Truth should be men of solid minds, who will not lead their hearers into a field of thistles (to entangle them), as it were, and leave them there.

     The sacrifice of Christ as an atonement for sin is the great Trutharound which all other truths cluster. In order to be rightly understood and appreciated, every Truth in the Word of God, from Genesis to Revelation, must be studied in the Light that streams from the cross of Calvary. I present before you the great, grand monument of mercy and regeneration, Salvation (deliverance, freedom, healing) and Redemption, –the Son of God uplifted on the cross. This is to be the foundation of every discourse given by our ministers.       – Gospel Workers p.314-315

     Ministers are to present Christ in His fullness both in the churches and in new fields, that the hearers may have an intelligent faith. The people must be instructed that Christ is unto them Salvation and Righteousness. It is Satan’s studied purpose to keep souls from believing in Christ as their only Hope; for the blood of Christ that cleanseth from all sin is efficacious (works effectively and powerfully) in behalf of those only who believe in its merit (value, worthiness) !

     Some Listening to the Last Sermon

     God would draw minds from the conviction of logic to a conviction deeper, purer, and more glorious. Often human logic has nearly quenched the Light that God would have shine forth in clear rays to convince men that the Lord of nature is worthy of all praise and glory, because He is the Creator of all things !

     Some ministers err in making their sermons wholly argumentative. There are those who listen to the theory of the Truth, and are impressed with the evidences brought out . . . . then, if Christ is presented as the Saviour of the world, the seed sown may spring up and bear fruit to the glory of God. But often the cross of Calvary is not presented before the people.

Some may be listening to the last sermon they will ever hear, and the golden opportunity lost, is lost forever. If in connection with the theory of the Truth,Christ and His redeeming love had been proclaimed, these might have been won to His side !”

Conditions of Acceptance With God

By Mrs. E. G. White

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” If any man has been dishonest, and has wronged his neighbor and his God, there is but one course for him to pursue. He must confess his wrong; he must restore again that he has robbed; he must forsake his evil ways, and have repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

A precious work has been done in California and in Battle Creek. We have heard confessions, we have seen restitution. Men and women with countenances lighted up with the glory of God have come into meeting to bear testimony to the willingness of Jesus to forgive sins and to cleanse from all unrighteousness. They had tasted and found that the Lord was good. God is ready to do a similar work for this people. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Jesus has declared, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.” We are composed of what we eat and drink; and as it is in the physical economy, so it is in the spiritual economy. That which we think upon, and meditate upon, will give tone and strength to our spiritual nature. We are to become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Jesus has said, “Whoso eateth of my flesh, and drinketh of my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.” We are to be partakers of the root and fatness of the vine. We are to be like Christ, full of benevolence and love. We are to possess the characteristics of God.

The Lord declared his character to Moses, when he stood with him in the mount. “And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty.” Moses had prayed that God would reveal himself to him. God had assured him that he had found grace in his sight, but Moses was not satisfied. He still pleaded with God, and said, “Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight; and consider that this nation is thy people.” How many would have been satisfied with the approval of God, and would have asked no further. And the Lord answered Moses, and said, “My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.” Still the man of faith pressed his request before God. “And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? Is it not in that thou goest with us? So shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.” O that we all felt as did Moses, that we could not go without the presence of the Lord! “And the Lord said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.” Step after step this mighty man of faith advances. Three times he has obtained the thing he asked of God. But is he satisfied yet? Has God nothing further to bestow? Moses prefers still another request. “And he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory.” Does this seem like presumption? Did God rebuke him for asking so great things at his hand?—No, no. God is not impoverished by giving. Hear what he answered Moses. “And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me, and live. And the Lord said, Behold there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock; and it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover thee with my hand while I pass by.” And Moses saw the goodness of the Lord. He manifested his character to him. He represented himself as a God, full of compassion and tender mercy. And these are the fruits that we shall bear if we are partakers of the divine nature. We are to eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of God, or there is no life in us. Jesus explained what he meant when he gave utterance to these words. He said, “It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” We do not live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God, as we should. We do not give the diligent, prayerful study to the Bible that we should, desiring the sincere milk of the word, that we grow thereby. We do not believe in Christ as we should, or we would not be so far separated from God. What shall we do? How shall we stand in the judgment? We should stand today as we shall wish to stand then. “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.”

Who have been preparing themselves to go and work in his vineyard? God is not pleased with novices. He wants us to make the very best and highest use that is possible of the talents that he has given us. The ability that our Father has bestowed upon us is precious talent to be put out to the exchangers, to gain usury for the Giver. If we are content to be dwarfs and novices, content to let our ability waste from inaction, we are content to rob God. Every young person must feel the necessity of exercising his talents in the work of God. We should seek to mount to the very highest rounds of attainment, and in the fear of God and with trembling, we should work out our own salvation, because we feel the responsibility that rests upon us to reach the high claims that God has on every soul. We fear lest we shall not defeat the enemy of God and man; but while we work with fear and trembling, realizing our own weakness, God will work with us to will and to do of his own good pleasure. As man sees the claims of the law, and brings the truth to bear upon his soul, a power from on high co-operates with his efforts, and he becomes a laborer together with God.

There is a measurement of character constantly going on. The angels of God are estimating your moral value, and ascertaining your needs, and bearing your case to God. How earnestly we should strive to meet the mind of the Spirit of God! And O, how thankful we should be that help has been laid upon One who is mighty to save!

When Daniel was in Babylon, he was beset with temptations of which we have never dreamed, and he realized that he must keep his body under. He purposed in his heart that he would not drink of the king’s wine or eat of his dainties. He knew that in order to come off a victor, he must have clear mental perceptions, that he might discern between right and wrong. While he was working on his part, God worked also, and gave him “knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.” This is the way God worked for Daniel; and he does not propose to do any differently now. Man must co-operate with God in carrying out the plan of salvation.

Do you manifest impatience, and utter hasty words? Are you full of self-esteem? Have you lustful thoughts and practices? Are you doing things directly contrary to the purposes of God? Are you robbing your Heavenly Father by withholding your talents and your heart from him? Why not cease doing this way? Why not make a full surrender to God? He will impart to you his light and peace, and you will taste of his salvation. Do not any longer bring to God a lame, diseased offering. Your powers, mental and physical, are enfeebled by your own course of transgression; but such an offering is not acceptable to heaven. Why not come and be healed of your infirmities, and offer a living sacrifice, holy, and without blemish? Have you been robbing God in tithes and offerings? Here is instruction for you. Says the Lord, “Bring ye all the tithes into the store-house, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Why not take the Lord at his word? It is our privilege to experience the joy of Christ.

It would be a difficult matter to convince those who have tasted of the rich knowledge of Christ, that he is as a root out of dry ground, without form or comeliness; and he may become to our souls “the chiefest among ten thousand,” and the One “altogether lovely.” I love him! I love him! I see in Jesus matchless charms. I see in him everything to be desired by the children of men. Let us come to the “Lamb of God, which taketh away the sins of the world.” Let us, through his merits and righteousness, obtain a fitting up for heaven. The broken and contrite heart he will not despise.

The Lord is not glorified by the tame supplications which show that nothing is expected. He desires every one who believes, to approach the Throne of Grace with earnestness and assurance. Do we realize the magnitude of the work in which we are engaged? If we did, there would be more fervency in our prayers. Our entreaties would rise before God with convincing earnestness. We would plead for power as a hungry child pleads for bread. If we realized the greatness of the Gift, if we desired the attainment of the Blessing, our petit-ions would ascend with earnestness, importunity, urgency. It would be as if we were at the gate of heaven, soliciting entrance.

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice!

I do not understand the tameness in the requests offered to God. We are to urge our way into the very Presence of God, into the Holy Place of the Most High. We are to plead for that which we most need, -- the Bread of Life, the leaf from the Tree of LifeAs Jacob wrestled with the angel, saying, “I will not let Thee go, except thou Bless me,” so we are to wrestle in prayer until we prevail. We are to ask with an urgency that will not be turned away, that expects God to bestow His blessings with a liberality that is an assurance to all fear.

The difficulties that have arisen have been very hard to meet, and they are far from being settled yet. One, and another, and still another are presented to me as having been led to accept the pleasing fables that mean the sanctification of sin. Living Temple contains the alpha of a train of heresies.

Augustine of Hippo
Saint Augustine of Hippo, "That GREAT man of GOD"?  A fifth-century historian named Socrates wrote: “Almost all churches throughout the world celebrate the sacred mysteries on the (7th day) sabbath of every week, yet the Christians of Alexandria and at Rome, on account of some ancient tradition, have ceased to do this.” Socrates, Ecclesiastical History, book 5, chap. 22, p. 289.

"Parents have a great and responsible work to do, and they may well inquire. “Who is sufficient for these things?” [2 Corinthians 2:16.] But God has promised to give wisdom to those that ask in faith, and he will do just as he said he would. He is pleased with the faith that takes him at his word. The mother of Augustine prayed for her son’s conversion. She saw no evidence that the Spirit of God was impressing his heart, but she was not discouraged. She laid her finger upon the texts, presenting before God his own words, and pleaded as only a mother can. Her deep humiliation, her earnest importunities, her unwavering faith, prevailed, and the Lord gave her the desire of her heart. Today he is just as ready to listen to the petitions of his people. His “hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear;” [Isaiah 59:1.] and if Christian parents seek him earnestly, he will fill their mouths with arguments, and, for his name’s sake, will work mightily in their behalf in the conversion of their children.—“Testimony,” No. 32, pp. 75-79. If parents would place themselves in the position of the teachers, and see how difficult it must necessarily be to manage and discipline a school of hundreds of students of every grade and class of minds, they might upon reflection see things differently. They should consider that some children have never been disciplined at home." CHRISTIAN EDUCATION, PAGE 236-237

Very interesting.... about Saint Arius
April 24, 2005 - Benedict became pope
June 16, 2006 - Arius was recognized as a Saint and Martyr by the Arian Catholic Church. June 16th is his memorial day.
"Arianism remained strong in Europe in spite of Roman aggression for a further250 years and has continued to survive in the sidelines waiting for the time when Arianism can become strong again." page 2
Isn't that interesting, Catholics are accepting non-Trinitarians, while the SDA's are disfellowshipping them.
