Digital Drama

Presenter Dr. Joy Lopez
Session    3                            Room: 110

Technology is increasingly becoming a part of our everyday lives. No one can deny the need for students to learn how to use 21st century tools for education and work. Unfortunately, students often use technology in ways that do not model the values we teach at home and in school. Who are these digital natives and what are they doing? What are the technology issues faced by schools today? What laws are there to protect schools and students? Finally, what can schools do to provide a safe learning environment? These issues will be addressed in the hopes that parents and schools can ban together to aid students as they grow toward adulthood. The presentation consists of a PowerPoint, downloaded YouTube videos, and a handout. The PPT is broken into the following three sections: Who are the natives?; Problems in Cyberspace; What are the related laws?; How can we keep students safe?.
