Homeschool + Anyone STEAM
STEM classes revolve around a science, math, or engineering topic. The first half-hour involves free play and social time among the students. The remaining 90 minutes introduces the topic, vocabulary, and hands-on activities to explore ideas.
The curriculum is designed for students in grades 1-5, but siblings in other grades are welcome to participate.
This year, three topics (* starred) are courtesy of STEAM On, collaborating on classes through a STEM Scale Up Program grant from the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council for this school year. Please visit STEAM On at www.STEAMOn.net and www.facebook.com/STEAMOnIowa to learn about their activities with Robotics, summer camps, and more.
Parents and guardians are welcome to drop off their children for class, they may stay and work with their children for parts of the lessons, or they can stay nearby.
STEM classes are offered on a monthly basis. Each month has one topic offered on a consecutive Monday and Tuesday mornings to suit homeschoolers' active schedules. In addition, there is a Monday evening class open to anyone, all ages.
