Pesto with Toasted Almonds

  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Toast almonds in a small skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  2. In a food processor, combine toasted almonds, garlic, basil, extra-virgin olive oil, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Process until a coarse paste is formed.
