About us

Craig was a talented cricketer in his youth, managing to reach a high playing standard and representing Middlesex’s second eleven.

He had a long career in sports development, where he had a positive impact on the lives of many people.

Craig suffered from mental health illness later in life after a family bereavement, and sadly took his own life in 2014 at the young age of 44.

At the Craig Smith Foundation, we aim to continue Craig's values by capturing his passion for cricket to support, train and develop people to reach personal development aspirations and contribute positively to society

Using coaching, residential trips and coach education as vital tools to give young people and adults the opportunity to develop themselves to be the best that they can be.


  • To use sport and education as a tool to assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of young people and adults with mental health problems.

  • Providing sport, education and residential opportunities for young people and adults from disadvantaged and deprived backgrounds 

  • To provide opportunities for young people and adults with disabilities to take part in sports activities

  • To raise aspirational levels for vulnerable Adults and young people in order to contribute positively to society
