The Conway Collective presents: The New Factory of the Eccentric Actor
1848 is an examination of the Europe-wide revolutions of that year, the most widespread wave of revolution in history. From a February uprising in France, through Germany, Austria, Hungary and Denmark, to South America, some 50 countries were caught up in revolutionary fervour by the end of the year.

LIGHT BEHIND BARS
Light Behind Bars

An interactive performance artwork that focuses a beam of light on the incarceration of prisoners of conscience. In 1819, Richard Carlile was imprisoned in Dorchester Gaol for publishing Thomas Paine’s ‘The Rights of Man’. The desk he had with him in prison now lives in the Conway Hall library and is a centrepiece of this event. Light Behind Bars not only remembers these prisoners, but, with the collaboration of Index On Censorship, throws light on those many prisoners around the world who are locked up today because of their thoughts, writings, art, and politics.

Alain-Fournier yearns for lost love. An outpouring of poetry, letters and song sow the seeds of his great novel,
Le Grand Meaulnes, published in 1913, a year before he was killed in the Great War.

Inspired by quantum physics, the modern dance pioneer Loie Fuller, selfies and the baroque 
this production from one of the country's most delightful contemporary dance companies 
plays with dance and music forms and their notations towards new poetic expression in visual performance.
