Brownie Waffle Sundae

Recipe written by The Chef Next Door

Serves 4

3/4 cup cake flour

3 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

4 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped

3 Tbsp unsalted butter

1/2 cup sugar

2 large eggs

Optional toppings: Vanilla ice cream, maraschino cherries, whipped cream and sprinkles

Special equipment needed: waffle iron

Preheat a waffle iron to medium heat.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder and a pinch of salt; set aside.

Combine the chocolate and butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat and stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly. Whisk in the sugar and eggs. Add the chocolate mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Spray the waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Fill the waffle iron with about 1/4 cup of the batter. Gently close the lid and cook until the waffles are cooked through. Repeat with the batter until all of the waffles have been made. (I use a 4-square Belgian waffle maker so I was able to make mine in one batch)

Allow the waffles to cool just slightly, then top each of them with desired toppings. (We used vanilla ice cream and cherries)

Bon Appetit!
