Welcome to the Blue Moon Coffeehouse~

The Bluemoon Coffeehouse takes place under the twinkling blue lights at the parish hall of the Channing Unitarian Universalist Church in Rockland, Ma.  We have monthly shows, September through May.  Each show features a band and an open mic.  We also have Equal Exchange coffee and homemade snacks.  The atmosphere feels like...  enjoying good music with good friends.

Saturday, March 10th: Jo Henley

First off, Jo Henley is a band, not a person, and one of my favorite bands at that! Co-founded by longtime musical collaborators Andy Campolieto and Ben Lee, Jo Henley is a Boston-based roots-rock band with a love of all forms of American roots music. The Patriot Ledger's Jay Miller wrote of Jo Henley, "The music of Jo Henley has always been a cut above, superbly crafted rootsy rock wi
th intelligent story-songs about real people. Campolieto's skill as a songwriter is such that most of the songs don't deal directly with the event, but express the feelings people in that situation might experience, memories they might treasure." A decade ago, Jo Henley released its debut EP,Long Way Home. Their newest CD, Burning Down the Dark, was released in 2016.

Open Mic Information

We love the open mic!   It's a great place to hear some new talent and to enjoy a variety of musical styles and approaches.  The open mic takes place between the bands two sets.  We usually have 10 slots available, 5 before the midway break/raffle and 5 after.   If the open mic fills (all ten slots are full or nearly so), we have each performer do one song.  If the open mic is "light," performers can do two.  If you want to perform, just put your name on the sign up sheet at the entryway table.

Upcoming Shows: April 14th The Lindays

The Lindsays play a mix of contemporary songs, old ballads, and Irish traditional jigs and reels. Susan plays sax, Irish flute, and whistle, and Stephen, a native of Dublin, Ireland, plays guitar and sings. In full-band configuration, they are joined by Ted Mello on upright bass. The music deeply honors the Irish folk tradition, but also reflects who they are and where they've been, from folk to rock to blues to jazz to world. The first studio CD “From the Green to the Blue” was released in November 2010. Their live CD, “Live at Church of the Pilgrimage” came out in 2007.

Our Thanks Go Out To...
