The Bergens Science Fair 2019

Science Fair.jpg

Welcome!

It’s time for another exciting Science Fair at the Bergens!!  Last year’s fair engaged a record number of young scientists and we hope at least as many return for another year of fun and learning!

Registration for the 2019 Science Fair begins today, December 7, 2018, and will remain open until January 15th, 2019.  All students who wish to enter the Fair, including 5th graders, need to go the Bergen’s website and register online.  As 5th graders know, they are required to complete a science experiment as part of their science curriculum.  They are not required however to enter the Fair.

What you should do now

  1. Choose a general area of interest, do a little research, and choose a scientific area in which you want to enter the Science Fair (see back of this flyer).

  1. Registration for the Fair closes January 15.  You do not need to have the project completely designed to register, however you do need to register for one of the eleven categories (see back of this flyer).  You may not change categories once registered.

  1. Do more research, formulate a research question, and design an experiment.

  1. Download the Science Fair information packet.  This packet can be used as a guide for your experiment.

  1. Download the judging sheets.  This can be used as a checklist for your experiment, poster, and notebook.

    Demonstrative Judging Form: K - 1st graders

    Testable Judging Form: K - 5th graders

    Oral Interview: 4th - 5th graders

  1. Follow the timeline below, paying particular attention to deadlines for registration, order poster boards, and project drop off/pick up.

  1. Parents: remember that there is a fine line between helping with your child’s project and doing it for them.  Your child will get the most out of the experience if they are allowed to do most of it themselves!

  1. Have fun!!

Sincerely,

The Bergens Science Fair Chairs
