Winter Grazing

Grazing continues year 'round at the farm, but forages take a round shape from January to April.  The cattle are rotated every two days through the usual paddocks, which provides them plenty of good hay and even some dry, clean bedding to lay on.  We move them into sheltered wooded areas during extreme weather and they seem to be happier and healthier than ever.  Ringworm used to be a problem when we yarded the cattle in a relatively confined setting, but has completely disappeared since we started outwintering the herd two years ago.
