The cottage is situated above Whitesands Beach in Sennen Cove.  It has stunning views and is within easy walking distance of the beach.

Sennen Cove is a small hamlet with a few small shops and cafés, a pub and some galleries.  The scenery is beautiful and there are several very enjoyable cliff walks from the cove including one of about a mile to Land’s End.  Whitesands Beach is one of the cleanest in Europe (it had a blue flag award) and is manned by lifeguards in season.  It is popular for surfing but there is plenty of space for swimmers too – the lifeguards put out flags to separate them.  The beach itself is flat and sandy.

Penzance is the nearest large town, 8 miles away, and has all the services such as restaurants, supermarkets and other shops.  Sennen itself has a long hours shop that sells most things.

Attractions in Penzance include

Jubilee Pool – recently renovated – a lido filled with cleaned and heated sea water

The promenade

Various parks and galleries

Marazion and St Michaels Mount (National Trust) about 2 miles further east

Helicopter trips to the Isles of Scilly

St Ives is known for its light, and resultant art.  The Tate Gallery now has a gallery here. The streets are picturesque, the beaches fun and we have seen seals come up on to the beaches here.  Trips go from here to Seal Island.  There are also some good restaurants.

Going back to Sennen from St Ives you pass several old tin mines, one of which is open to visitors.  Visits include a trip underground as well seeing the workings of the separating etc.  Further along this road is St Just, the nearest “town” to Sennen with a few more shops and banks than Sennen.  Between St Just and Sennen is the airport from which you can fly to the Isles of Scilly.

Working round from Lands End to Penzance, the Minnack Theatre should not be missed.  In season, several companies visit this theatre which is carved out of the rock face.  The sea offers a marvellous backdrop to the activity on the stage.  It also has a museum.  Several coves along the south coast are quite beautiful, Mousehole being very famous for its tale of the Mousehole cat.  Fishing is the main source of income here and Newlyn is the main fishing centre.  Wonderful fresh fish and shellfish can be found here at very good prices and there are museums to see and art galleries to visit.

Many more attractions are within easy reach.

The cottage

Larger sitting room

The cottage is located on a hillside.  We now have parking next to the property in a private layby.    There are several steps up to the property, which is not, in our opinion, suitable for wheelchair users.

Bedroom with single beds                                                            Bedroom with double bed

The cottage has two double bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with two singles), a small sitting room with television and video and a larger sitting room with dining table and lounge suite, kitchen, bathroom and conservatory entrance.  Two zed beds or one sofa bed (in the smaller sitting room) can also be made up to bring the sleeping accommodation up to 6.  The kitchen has a washer-dryer, larder fridge, oven, hob and extractor, and dishwasher.
