2017 Nats Day 3

We all waited at the gate this morning patently in the rain for a key holder to arrive to let onto the Lake Rua Reserve.

With all this rain even the track is cut up and is a driving experience driving getting in and out.

Briefing 9.15am with clear goals from the race officer of 5 more races and about a 12.30pm finish.

Racing got underway promptly mid A rig.  The B fleet was down to around nine and A fleet around nineteenth.

With the increasing wind speed during the day and the distance of the control area to the top mark the port / starboard carnage increased and a lot of infringements occurred.

Unfortunately today it did not seem to matter which way I went today, I ended up in one of the raft of boats and slipped down the rankings.  One race I even threw on the B Rig to try and give me more maneuverability to avoid the fleet crashes but to no avail (that ended up a 3 raft race)

We completed the five, packed up and had prize giving. We thanked all the officials and Christchurch, we got a certificate each and gave Congrats to Ian, Phil and Sean.

Thanks Christchurch

Now back at camp and my bags are packed, 21 hours to get the van cleaned and back to the hire company, A bus to airport and a 2 hour flight tomorrow afternoon home.

See u all soon
Graham
