Dear Club Secretary

Could you pass this on to all your members

Behaviour of radio sailors whilst racing / sailing on public areas.

It has come to the NZRYA Councils attention that the behaviour of some sailors at events is not acceptable within the rules of our sport.

Most of our sailing is held on public areas and offer considerable publicity opportunities to the sport and poor competitor behaviour will impact on our sport.

This is to remind all sailors and clubs that the rules are very specific in this area and ask you to bring to members notice Rule 17.1 and 17.3 in the sailing instructions on the NZRYA website under “Downloads”.

NZRYA see the individual clubs as responsible for managing this issue.

We would encourage all clubs to assist sailors to learn the rules, there are many computer based games, one of the best is on the header of Tauranga’s radio club website. “Play the Rules” by Uli and Wolf Finckh

Kind regards

Basil Hart
