We are a multicultural Franco-Brazilian family of 4 (parents in their mid-30's and two beautiful little daughters). We have decided to dramatically change our lives after realizing that we were climbing the wrong social ladder, the consumerist one, which is not able to bring true happiness to our lives (even though we consider we have pretty much reached its top!). We have also realized that economy globalism and the current evolution of modern societies is not sustainable in the long term as it goes against Nature. This creates the need for non-profit oriented and self-sustainable local communities, which our project is part of. Our vision is to establish a "Kin Domain Village" in Brazil, and we decided to create this website in order to share it with you, to make our dream of owning a "Space of Love" come true. At this stage, we need to find a land, and we need to find like-minded people willing to participate in some way or join us in our project of building our own self-sustainable community.
A Kin Domain is a parcel of land of 1 to 2 hectares in size (2.5 to 5 acres) where a family decides to create its own Space of Love and reside permanently, embracing a lifestyle deeply respectful of Nature. The parcel of land contains the family house, a large vegetable garden, a pond and a food forest with countless fruit trees of many different varieties, designed with permaculture principles in mind in order to nurture and enrich the myriad of life forms of "Mother Earth". The Kin Domain is enclosed by a "Living Fence" made of small native trees, shrubs, vines and herbaceous plants, including many that are food for humans and animals.
On the Kin Domain, the idea is to reach self-sustainability economically and to adopt a lifestyle following the principles of Natural Hygiene, free from addictions, including a raw food diet based on the fresh fruits and vegetables produced on the land, as offered by Nature, and hence greatly reduce one's footprint on the environment.
A Kin Domain Village is a group of 50 to 100 closely situated Kin Domains, whose stewards have united for the joint construction of a village, and for the creation of the appropriate infrastructure for administrative, cultural, and other social purposes. Each family possesses a lifetime, infinitely renewable lease to steward its own Kin Domain, while all of the village residents own the land together as a community, promising to steward the land, the village, and the domains for the benefit of future generations.
