Welcome to the Tenafly African American Art Museum Informational Site!

Our goal is that this site will provide information for educators to enrich their students' knowledge of diversity in African American cultures. This is one of the few rare museums, and happens to be one of five around the world. The Tenafly Museum was established in 1980, it offers a unique collection and perspective of various African masks, sculptures, and overall culture. This museum was founded by the SMA father (The Society of African Missions) Roman Catholic missionary organization. These collections have been preserved and gradually built through donations from people, and the Roman Catholic fathers who have brought them back from Africa. This museum is extremely flexible in encouraging teachers to use all their resources to educate their students and participate in various hands-on activities created to enrich students' knowledge.
