The TEMPE lab conducts research on cultural factors that influence individuals. More specifically, it emphasizes the role of culture (e.g., race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status) in development, behavior, affect, and cognition. Issues concerning sports, athletics, and mental health; financial stress; discrimination; cultural socialization; identity; and health disparities are currently being explored.
