Prof Sen's professional experience has spanned not just academics and research but also working for large corporations and consulting as well.

He has taught post graduate students and advised doctoral students at some institutes in India, Armenia, Dubai and Singapore for nearly several decades – spanning full time and visiting assignments. In parallel he has around a decade's experience in academic administration.

Prof Sen has around 20 years full time professional experience covering information technology (Tata Consultancy Services), power utilities (NTPC Ltd), textiles (DIGJAM / OCM), cement (Mysore Cements), beverage and storage battery (Chloride India / Exide industries).

He has a B.S. (Physical Sciences) from BITS Pilani, an MBA (specialization in Financial Management) and earned a PhD (Fellow of IIM Calcutta). He is also Chartered Management Accountant from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, London – of which he is a member.

He retired from IIM Calcutta as Professor - Finance & Control in August 2018. Prior to this he was Associate Dean and Professor Finance at American University of Armenia, Yerevan
