Construction

Construction was originally slated to begin late in the Winter of the 2010 academic year.  Due to sever issues in time management and material deliveries this was postponed until Spring term.  Once construction began for this project most components and pieces came together with relative ease.  Some issues were found in locating the proper tooling for different aspects of machining; however, these issues were overcome relativity quickly and allowed for the team to continue with the project.

The final rolling project as seen below was completed over the Memorial Day weekend and its first practical tests were conducted May 31st 2010.  During the initial testing the Power Assist gear box was attached to the vehicle; however, not active due to the lack of the embedded controller unit that was required to control the power to the motor.  Testing during the initial trial runs proved very effective and no major issues arouse.  Some minor fine tuning and chain tensioning was required following the tests but not much beyond that.
