Setting Up a Blog Using Google

Setting up a Blog using Google

  1. Go to Google at

  1. Click on the link that says “Sign In,” and then click on “Create an Account Now.”

  1. Sign up for a Google account. You can go about this 2 different ways:
    1. You may use your current email address as your log in name and create a password.
    2. You can sign up for Gmail and use your gmail address as your login and create a password.  Gmail gives you 1 Gb of email storage, can be accessed from the web, popped into a mail reader such as Outlook or Macmail, or sent to your cell phone or other mobile device.
  1. Once you have signed up for a Google account, you can log in.  You will be taken to your iGoogle home page, which you can customize later. In the upper right corner of the page, you will see a link that says “My Account.” Click on it.
  2. You will be taken to a page that shows all of the free products you have access to. One of the products is Blogger.  If you don’t see it, click the link under “Try Something New” that says “More.”
  3. Clicking on Blogger will take you to the Blogger Dashboard. From there you can click on “Create a Blog.”
  4. Name your blog and then check the availability of the blog address you have chosen.
  5. Choose a template – and your blog has been created.
  6. Under Settings, you will be able to designate who sees your blog, who can search for your blog, and who can contribute to your blog.
You may download the MS Word version of this page by clicking on the link under Attachments.
