In 1990, Teachers College created and offered the first 100% Distance Learning/Sistema Abierto Teachers Academic Program. What began as a 20-year research project became over time a 35-year non-for-profit educational institution of higher learning--Teachers College Mexico City. The College has been devoted for over three decades to the professional development of teachers of English as a second or other language.

We kindly thank the more than 1500 students who have graduated as English teachers, some as Spanish teachers and others as bilingual translators. We thank their wonderful families whom we have had the pleasure of meeting. We thank the entire College staff for their always enthusiastic support. Our appreciation goes to everyone involved in its operation and to whom we owe the on-going success of the College.

We love the experience of working with young people, assisting them in their own professional endeavors and to whom we wish the best of everything in life and in their profession.

Why is your Teaching Certificate cheaper than in other places?

We are a non-for-profit organization with one mission--getting Mexico to speak English by providing teachers with specialized training that will support Mexico in its own mission of becoming a bilingual country. Teachers College offers affordable training to assist teachers in their professional development. The SEP has accepted Teachers College Accreditation since 1990.

Somos una institución no lucrativa con una sola misión. Que México hable Inglés! Que los maestros de inglés tengan acceso al conocimiento y al entrenamiento mediante un programa académico especializado de la mas alta calidad pedagógica que lleve a México a convertirse en un país que domine el inglés. La forma de cumplir con esta misión es respetando la economía de los futuros maestros para que ellos tengan acceso a su desarrollo profesional. La SEP ha aceptado la Acreditación de Teachers College desde 1990.

Who is in charge of the academic programs?

Miss Ana is the General Director at the College. She is both native speaker and bilingual. She studied at the University of Texas at Edinburg and at Texas A & I University at Kingsville. She has worked as Teacher Trainer at CEEPRO, Center for Professional Studies, Director of the Berlitz Language School in Satelite, Coordinator at the Tec de Monterrey Department of External Studies and School Division Academic Consultant for American Schools in Mexico at McGraw-Hill Publishers. She has, on their behalf, travelled throughout Mexico giving academic workshops and presentations at colleges and universities as well as at International Mextesol Conventions.

Miss Diana, also a native speaker of English, has a BS Degree in International Relations from Universidad Iberoamericana and holds a masters degree from Lancaster University in England. In Chicago she worked at Berlitz International, the Art Institute, and Girl Scouts of America. She is currently the Director of Admissions at the College.

As Academic Director, Miss Silvia is in charge of promoting enrollments and reviewing our academic programs to insure they meet the highest academic standards. She is a graduate of Teachers College Mexico City, a succesful writer and Life Coach. Her major studies have been in the area of Literature and Psychology.

¿Quien es responsable de los programas académicos?

El Director General es Miss Ana. Ella es nativa del idioma inglés y bilíngüe. Estudió en University of Texas en Edinburg y en Texas A & I University en Kingsville. Fue Teacher Trainer en CEEPRO, Centro de Estudios Profesionales, Director de Berlitz International, Escuela de Idiomas en Satélite, Coordinador de las Clases Externas del Tec de Monterrey Estado de México y Consultor Académico para la empresa McGraw-Hill en la División School para escuelas Americanas en México y para quien ha dado presentaciones académicas en escuelas, en universidades y ponencias en las Convenciones Nacionales e Internacionales de Mextesol.
