2019 Tournament Schedule

posted Oct 22, 2018, 11:48 AM by TDmens Golf

The men's golf club tournament schedule for 2019 has been posted on the website - click on the tournament schedule link on the left.  There will be all the usual tournaments, including NCGA qualifiers, social events, the 12-man team events, and a few others that are still in the works.

We have made several changes, including moving the Invitational back to early September. Dates in early August or late August over the past few years have not increased participation, so we're going back to early Sept. We are also working on a way to let older seniors in the Invitational, who always play from the combo tees, to do that even if their index puts them in the flights that have traditionally been silver tees. More on that in the spring.

TD Golf Course Improvement Proposal 2018

posted Jan 26, 2018, 9:54 PM by TDmens Golf

Over the past couple of months the men’s club board has been working on an effort to get the Tahoe Donner Association to consider making some updates and improvements to the golf course beyond what might be a normal preparation for the course following the winter of snow. Our perception has been that the course is in need of some major capital improvements to return it to the highest quality possible, in addition to providing some regular maintenance and preparation efforts we believe will help make the course in as good a condition as possible early in the summer.

Details of our proposal can be found on the men’s club website at the following link:

https://sites.google.com/site/tdmensgolfclub/course-improvement-proposal-2018

Both the TD Women’s club and the Women’s 9-holer group have been working with us in this effort, and the result is a two-part proposal that has recently been submitted to the General Plan Committee (GPC) for consideration on behalf of all three groups. We have consulted extensively with superintendent Kevin Kuehne, Golf Operations Manager James Murtagh, and TD General Manager Robb Etnyre as we developed the proposal, and it has now been forwarded to the General Plan Committee for consideration at the suggestion of General Manager Etnyre.

This has becomes part of a larger review of the golf course maintenance and operations that Manager Etnyre has tasked by the TD Association Board to consider, and Etnyre has asked GPC to take this on. Apparently a golf task force will be formed by direction of the TD Association Board to provide a review all aspects of the golf operations. The course had a net financial loss in 2017 that was substantially larger than planned for in the budget, due to the harsh winter and late opening, and course finances will be part of the review.

This discussion of the future related to the golf course is at the beginning stages of discussion, and we will keep you informed as things progress.  Men’s club board member John McGregor is on the GPC committee, and we hope to have several representatives from the club on the golf task force that is formed.

At some point in the future we may need a vocal presence in support of maintaining the golf course at the highest level feasible from club members at TD committee meetings or TD Association Board meetings, and we will let members know when that might be helpful. We hope for a substantial investment in the golf course that we believe is sorely needed, and we also need to help make sure there are not cutbacks in maintenance and operations that would be critical to a quality golf experience for TD residents and the visiting public.

We invite any comments on the proposals and anything else you believe is relevant to maintaining the quality of the golf course – comments can be sent to the men’s club email address (tdmensgolf@gmail.com). The proposals are a start to what will likely be a long process, and we can revise and update our proposal and forward new ideas and comments to the relevant task force as the review progresses.

Membership Renewal for 2018

posted Oct 31, 2017, 1:58 PM by TDmens Golf

It's time to renew your membership for the 2018 season.  As always your membership in the men's club also includes a membership in the NCGA with bi-monthly index revisions.  The NCGA has notified us that they are increasing their dues by $3,00 next year.  This marks the first NCGA dues increase in 8 years.  In order that our men's club does not have a deficit budget next year we will be increasing our dues for renewal by $3.00.

The application for 2018 membership can be found by clicking on the "Join Our Club" link in the left column.  If you renew by December 15th you pay only $78.  New members and current members who renew after December 15th will need to pay a $90 fee.

Please remember that our club offers a limited number of associate members. If you have a friend or two who are not property owners and who you would like to invite to join our men's club please give them an application.
