Ideas from other congregations.

·        Flower Festival celebrating nature and all growing things

·         Our green team was commissioned and we are on the list of groups prayed for during the "prayers of the people."

·         A drama skit worked up by our kids on an Earth Day theme.

·         Celebrate Earth Day. 

·         Use creation oriented prayers.

·         At least once a month or more often the prayers to the people include references to earth, stewardship, climate, environment, etc.

·         We celebrate Tu B'Shevat, which is basically Jewish Earth Day - a celebration of trees, and we remind everyone about the importance of recycling, reducing waste, etc.

·         We celebrate all the BCP rogation days as well as other creation related liturgical tools such as the Prayers of the People,

·         Rogation Sunday

·         Using flowers we grow ourselves on the grounds,

·         Giving trees away to be planted & more!

·         Several Bike to church days

·         We had a rogation Sunday service outdoors in a state park and planted native iris plants on the lake

·         Blessing of the Animals on the Feast of St. Francis of Assissi.

·         Emphasizing our recycling programs

·         It is a thread in all that we do, from renovations, to maintenance, to 'slants' in preaching, etc.

·         We devote 3-4 weeks every August where our worship is focused on creation and environmental concerns.

·         Creation liturgy

·         2009 was our first Earth Day Sunday service/Eucharist.  The service was held outside on the church grounds.  A display board with pros/cons of using plastic or paper bags vs. reusable bags and the value of buying food locally was set up.
