Understanding Informational Texts

Unit Overview
In this Speech unit, students will be immersed in a study of informational texts, including listening to and evaluating speeches.  Students analyze the central idea of texts, including speeches. They will be asked to evaluate a speaker's claims, point of view, and use of rhetoric.

In writing students will complete two informational pieces: a piece on a nonfiction topic and a piece stating their opinion of a text or topic to be turned into a speech.
