Understanding Informational Texts
In this Speech unit, students will be immersed in a study of informational texts, including listening to and evaluating speeches. Students analyze the central idea of texts, including speeches. They will be asked to evaluate a speaker's claims, point of view, and use of rhetoric.
In writing students will complete two informational pieces: a piece on a nonfiction topic and a piece stating their opinion of a text or topic to be turned into a speech.
Write to Learn window will open on September 3 and close on April 30. Get writing pieces submitted in a timely manner.
