Our Travels

My husband works really hard, so the last thing he wants to do on vacation from work is go anywhere, but I've drug him a few places here and there thankfully!

Iberostar Bravaro - Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Nov 2005 (Honeymoon)

Long story short, hurricane hit Riviera Maya, Mexico about 5 days before our wedding. The day we were leaving for Destin, FL for our wedding, they closed the hotel. We had 10 minutes to decide a new place, travel agent suggested DR, and we said okay, not knowing one thing about it. We got the last booking there and let's just say, they were not exactly prepared to be full. It was a good time, but not some place I'd go back to.

The night we arrived, it was Halloween, so everyone was dressed up. (Yes, I DO look hot. You would too if you had to wake up at 3am the morning after your wedding, drive 14 hours home to Ohio and leave on a 7pm flight to DR!)

The food there was incredible! This was just a few options for breakfast!

Sunset

The pool where we spent 99% of our time!

Another view of the pool...

The beautiful beach! It looked pretty, but the sand fleas were horrible, the shore basically dropped off about 5 feet in, and I didn't really trust the netting around the "swimming" area. In the top right corner is the "flea market" we bought a few things at. Basically a bunch of cheap junk.

A snorkeling excursion we went on.

There were so many cool animals and flowers to see. Of course, the peacock was my favorite.

Did I mention the food was incredible? Homade paella and sangaria made right on the beach for lunch....can't beat that!

Chicago, IL - July 10-12th

We needed a quick getaway for a couple days and what a better place to visit than Chicago.....only a 5 hour drive from us! Due to a priceline.com error, we stayed at the Mariott Chicago Medical District for $130 per night. Not the most ideal location, but it was clean, it was in a safe and nice area, and we were only two blocks from either the blue line or pink line "L" station. Overall, it was worth the money but I'd like to be closer to the action next time.

On Thursday, July 10th, we watched the Reds pound the Cubs 12 - 7!

The front of Wrigley Field obviously!

The "Giant Bean" at Millenium Park

The boats along Lake Shore Drive

Buckingham Fountains

More to come:
