Entertaining

I look forward to entertaining and I try to have people over every chance I can get. Whether it's just a fun little BBQ or a wedding shower for a friend, I love to look for new ideas that will get everyone saying wow!

Luke's 1st Birthday Party

It didn't exactly turn out to be the backyard luau I had imagined, but having people eat in the garage and hang out inside while the rain poured down ended up working out just fine. We did our best about two hours before start time to clean out our garage and make it as luau-ish as possible!

Invitation

I filled take out boxes with candy for each family that came. The favor tags were made by a fellow nestie who's company is called Park Thomas Designs. They matched Luke's invitations she made me. They said "Thanks for coming to my party! -Luke"

I made a lemonade champange drink I saw a recipe for. It was supposed to be made with limeaid and be a green color, but my sister in law picked up the wrong stuff. =( The blue drink was Kool-Aid for the kids. The "supposed" to be green drink and blue went with the colors. We also sevred beer, pop, wine coolers and water. The sign says, "Cheers to Todd and Andrea for surviving their first year of parenthood. Drinks are on us!" Again, another sign made by Stacy at Park Thomas Designs.

We set out Dr. Suess's "Happy Birthday to You" and had everyone sign it. The sign basically says to sign the book so we have a momento of everyone who shared his first birthday with him. Then it goes on to say that we hope to start this tradition with a different book each birthday. It was a great idea! Everyone loved it and wrote the sweetest messages!

Luke's cake. DH ordered it late, so we couldn't do anything fancy. Just half white, half chocolate with buttercream frosting. It still turned out good and tasted awsome, so I guess thats all that really matters right?!?!

And the birthday boy digging in his homeade carrot cupcake with cream cheese frosting. We didn't want him up all night, so we gave him a sugar free version. He loved it just the same!

Entertaining Inspiration

After cleaning out my old hard drive, I found a ton of old Nestie pictures I had saved. I didn't think about labeling them with the Nestie's name, so they are all just a random collection, and therefore cannot be posted to the entertaining bio. If any of these are yours, please let me know so I can give you credit! Thanks!

Mt Favorite Chore Game - Jasmine19

Everyone got a card that said "My least favorite chore is ____ because_________."   After everyone filled them out, my MOH collected them and read them aloud, only replacing whatever chore they put with the word "sex."   So they were things like...."My least favorite chore is sex (actually grocery shopping) because I always forget something and I spend too much money" and "My least favorite chore is sex (scrubbing the floor) because I'm too old to get on my hands and knees."   That last one was my Grandma's; the look on her face when that was read aloud was priceless!
