Last night at our regular meeting of the Tri-Cities Republican Women, we discussed at length endorsements and when to endorse. It was decided by the members present to endorse the following at this time:
In contested races, the following were endorsed:
Legislative District 8, Position 1- Incumbent Representative Brad Klippert
Legislative District 8, Position 2- Incumbent Representative Larry Haler
Legislative District 9, Position 1- Incumbent Representative Mary Dye
Legislative District 16, Position 2- Incumbent Representative Terry Nealey
US Representative- Incumbent Congressman Dan Newhouse
In non-contested races, the following were endorsed:
Legislative District 9, Senator- Incumbent Senator Mark Schoesler
Legislative District 9, Position 2- Incumbent Representative Joe Schmick
Legislative District 16, Senator- Representative Maureen Walsh
Benton County Commissioner, Position 1- Incumbent Jerome Delvin
Benton County Commissioner, Position 2- Incumbent James Beaver
The TCRW will revisit the endorsing of candidates for the Franklin County Commissioner Position 1 and 2 at a future meeting, and State races before the General Election.

TCRW Awards Scholarship to Kiana Dyck--June 2, 2016
On June 2, 2016, the Tri Cities Republican Women's Club announced and presented their 2016 Scholarship Award to Kiana Dyck, a graduating senior at Kamiakin High School in Kennewick, WA. The award, available to senior women graduating from any Benton County high school, is a $500 award in recognition of scholarship accomplishment, community service, and the content of an original essay on the responsibilities of a citizen of the United States. The presentation was made in her government class during the final week of the graduating year.
Pictured during the award are TCRW Scholarship Chair, Wanda Munn; award recipient Kiana Dyck; and US Government teacher, Chad Potter. Miss Dyck has been admitted to the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, and will be enrolled there for the fall of the 2016-17 school year.
Literacy Chair Ruth Bates Presents Dictionaries to Robinson Elementary
On April 13, 2016, Literacy Chair of the Tri Cities Republican Women Ruth Bates handed out Dictionaries to 3rd graders at Robinson Elementary. The Best Dictionary for Students were given to 27 students. These particular dictionaries are part of the Dictionary Project in South Carolina.The third graders had already been given lessons on how to use the dictionary by their teacher, Mrs. Rosenbaum. Only two of the children had a dictionary at their home and placing this dictionary in each child's hand present brought many smiles and "Thank you's".

Along with other award recipients, Co-President, Fern Ridout (second from last), accepts the Club's Gold Award from WFRW President Eileen Sobjack, in recognition of efforts to benefit the National Federation of Republican Women and the Republican Party in 2010-11.
Pocket Constitution Donation
As part of our community outreach, the Tri-Cities Republican Women have donated pocket Constitutions to local graduating seniors at two schools: Phoenix High School and Legacy High School, both located in Kennewick, Washington -- May 12 and 18, 2011.

On February 7, 2011, TCRW Co-Presidents Fern Ridout and Brenda Chilton, along with Vice-President, Bianca Labrador, and member Jenifer Haler, ventured to Olympia for the Washington Federation of Rebublican Women's Day at the Capitol. They had a wonderful time seeing the capitol building, and hearing nearly two dozen Republican lawmakers speak.

2010 Dictionary Program
TCRW Member, Jessie Willoughby, visited 3rd grade students at Washington Elementary School in September, 2010, and presented them with a dictionary. This is an annual part of TCRW's literacy program. Dictionaries are given to 3rd graders at a different school each year.
TCRW Members had a great time at the annual picnic in June, 2010, hosted by Co-President Judy Addis at her home in Kennewick.
