The College of Nursing is a new institution under the umbrella of Manohar Hill Charitable Trust of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
The trust is a symbol of benevolence and compassion for suffering fellow being and is a bold experiment of social service, which was, founded in 1964 by late Mr. P. Geevarghese a Kottayam Industrialist.
Based on personal conviction and Philosophy of its founder that "man is only a custodian of God's money, various institutions were established by trust for social service and to contribute to welfare and development of community in health, education and allied fields.
The institutions under the Manohar Hill Charitable Trust include the following institution with proven track record since decades.

- P. Geevarghese School of Nursing (1975)
- Baselios English Medium School (1974)
- School of Medical Laboratory Technology (1979)
- The College of Nursing is the youngest institution under the trust, which is being established and planned to be developed as a prestigious institution under the trust. The College is named after the saintly bishop Theophilus, who was an inspiring force and promoter of M.G.D.M. HOSPITAL and other trust institutions.
July 2002Government of Kerala has granted NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE to
start a College of Nursing to Manohar Hill Charitable Trust, M.G.D.M.
HOSPITAL, Kangazha. Also, affiliation from Mahatma Gandhi University,
Kottayam has been obtained. The management arranged temporary
facilities to start the course and Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council
conducted inspection on 11-10-2002; Consequent to satisfactory report
on temporary arrangements made, the college was permitted to start Ist
year B.Sc.Nursing course (2002-03academic year) as per order No:
G/11564/01/NC dt 11/11/2002.
By June 2003 the college was shifted to the new building with all facilities and the majority of recommendations of Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council report were implemented. Consequently after the inspection by Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council permission was given to admit 2nd batch students for the Academic year (2003-04). Now the college is in the IIIrd Academic year and all the facilities for for 3rd B.Sc.Nursing classes are completed. Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council has conducted the annual inspection on 7th September 2004 permission to conduct course was renewed.
We have a nursing faculty of proven expertise in prestigious
institutions. The faculty positions are planned to be filled in a
phased manner so that full strength of faculty will be available at the
time when 4th year B.Sc. Nursing classes begins.

a) Syllabus of the course:
The 4 year B.Sc.Nusrsing course offered by the college is affiliated to
Mahatm Gandhi University. The B.Sc.Nsg. Syllabus which is framed in
tune with regulation of Indian Nursing Council are followed strictly in
b) Admission to the course:
i) No. of Seats: Currently the annual intakes is only 50 seats as permitted by Govt. of Kerala, Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and Mahatma Gandhi University.
ii) Eligibility for Admission: Candidate for admission to the course of B.Sc. Nursing shall be required to have passed Higher Secondary course of Kerala or any other course with 10+2 Years duration recognized as equivalent these to be Mahatma Gandhi University with Physics , Chemistry and Biology as optional with minimum 50% aggregate marks in there subjects.
iii) Criteria for Admission: 50% seats are filled by Commissioner of Entrance Examination. Govt. of Kerala, on the basis of rank obtained in the common Medical Entrance Examination by following all statutory reservation . Balance 50% seat are Management Quota seats. This 50% seats of Management Quota are filled on the basis of rank obtained in the common Entrance examination conducted by Association of Management under scrutiny of Commission appointed as per Supreme court direction.
c) Current Academic progress: Already 3 batches of student are admitted in the last 3 academic years ie;
Ist Batch 2002-03 Admission - There are 50 students in this batch with 34 girls and 16 girls the Ist batch (2002-03Admission)who were the admitted in December 2002 are now into the IIIrd Year of course and have appeared their second year University examination.
II Batch (2003-04 Admission) -The IInd batch who were admitted in November 2003 are now in the initial phase of IInd year B.S.c.Nursing classes. They have appeared for their Ist year B.Sc.Nursing examination in November 2004.
III Batch( 2004-05 Admission)-The IIIrd batch students were admitted in the last week of September 2004 and are now attending Ist year B.Sc.Nursing classes.
d) Examination & Evaluation system: University examination is conducted yearly in addition to regular and systematic internal evaluation which is ongoing and continuous.

Facilities for outdoor sports and games are provided in stadium adjacent to the college. Indoor games facilities are provided in the hostel.

Frequent cultural and entertainment programs are organized for the development of students in these areas. which includes Music Club, Debate Club and Quiz Club etc. Monthly cultural evenings are conducted for talented students to develop their potential to the maximum.
