President's Message May 2019

Another great turnout for both the March and April dinner meetings and it is all because of you and your wonderful support for our Council!

In March, Dr. William Stanton (COL USA (Ret)) provided a fascinating presentation on his tours in Afghanistan and the conditions of the medical field unit in which he was stationed. In April, CWO3 Erik Watson (CO, USCG Station Ft. Pierce) and Mr. Mark Cannon, Aircraft Commander USCG Auxiliary, provided a panel discussion on the surface operations with aviation support missions. We appreciate our presenters dedicating their time to attend our meetings and offer such thought-provoking discussions.

As we close out the 2018-2019 speaker series, on Tuesday, May 21st, we welcome and celebrate our 3 scholarship winners from the NJROTC and the MCJROTC units and to award the follow-on scholarship to last year’s awardee. Additionally, LCDR Jim Landis will update the status of the STEM grant program being implemented at Sebastian River HS. This evening is one

of great joy and pride for our Council as we witness first hand our “Support of Youth Programs” mission. I do hope you all can attend.

Our membership continues to move in a positive direction. We are also preparing next season’s speaker series line-up. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 22 luncheon at the Quail Valley River Club to celebrate the birthday of the US Navy, and also Tuesday November 12th luncheon at the Point West Country Club in celebration of the US Marine Corps birthday.

I wish all of you a happy and healthy summer as we travel near and far! In closing, I appreciate your support and participation in our Council.

Very respectfully,

Maryjo Thompson
