Histology

Tissues:

Define the terms tissue and histology.

Describe the general structure, function, location in the body and general composition of the four major tissue types.

Correlate structure and function of tissues.

Classify the different types of epithelial tissue, connective tissue, and f muscle tissue based on characteristics of the tissue including location, structure and function.

Identify the following: microvilli, cilia, apical and basal surfaces, basement membrane, lumen.

Describe the components and structure of extracellular matrix and ground substance.

Identify the three types of fibers found in connective tissue.

Identify the cells present in nervous tissue and clarify their functions.

Compare and contrast vascularization and injury repair in the four major tissue types.
