Welcome to Travis County 4-H Shooting SportsThe focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens.
Our
program (using the National 4-H Shooting Sports curriculum) is valuable for
helping young people develop self-confidence, personal discipline,
responsibility, teamwork, self-esteem and sportsmanship. The discipline and
self-control required for responsible firearms use carries over into many other
aspects of life. The program provides a positive experience for youth and
promotes the safe and ethical use of firearms. The minimum age is 8 years old and in 3rd grade. In our club, we offer BB Gun, archery, muzzleloading, pistol, rifle and shotgun disciplines. All volunteer instructors are 4-H certified.
Most rifle and pistol projects are held at the Austin Rifle Club and a junior membership with ARC is required to participate. The Shotgun project is typically held at Capitol City Trap and Skeet club where membership is not required. We hold a monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of each month for all club members to attend. Please attend one of these meetings to meet the club leaders and see if our club is right for you. Feel free to hit the "Contact Us" button on the main menu to request more information from our club leaders. For more information, visit the National 4-H Shooting Sports website, and the Texas 4-H Shooting Sports website. |
