Maud pushed Para's glass over to her. "Should have seen that coming. What else though?" Off Para's uncertain look, he continued. "Maybe there's someone you talk to using your watch?" He indicated the apparent timepiece on Para's wrist, which seemed similar to Lyn's.

Para glanced down at it, then shook her head. "No, that just displays the leading coefficient." She scratched her head. "I'm not sure how Lyn's gained sentience."

"That means it also controls your rabbit ears?" Maud theorized.

"Sure, if I'm on duty!" Para confirmed. "But that sort of personal intervention isn't needed too often..." She had a sip of her wine before continuing. "I guess it's not so much a watch as a device that helps me appear as any individual quadratic. Plus it handles the transitions between standard, vertex and factored form."

Maud nodded. "So it can do complex calculations...?"

Para shook her head. "Only when there's no zeroes. I prefer to keep it real."
