"Well, I wouldn't be hung up on keeping the heels," Maud concluded.  "I mean, you don't have a cotton tail either."

"No, I save that for special occasions," Para replied. From her tone, Maud couldn't tell if she was joking.

Para approached the bar, taking more care with her steps. "Actually, it's tough sometimes, bearing the label of a quintessential female."

Maud canted his head to the side. "A what? I don't follow."

"I'm quadratic!" the blonde reiterated. She posed with her hands on her hips, staring at the bartender for a moment. When more explanation seemed to be required, she added, "X squared. You can't get much more female than XX, can you?"

"Oh! Well, yes, that makes sense, I suppose," Maud yielded. He rubbed his chin. "Does that make XY the quintessential male?"

Para's demeanor changed as she smacked her palm to her forehead. "Oh, don't bring Reci into this. That guy is so divisive! He's never on top of things - can't be his own boss, always under some one - and he exerts this negative power, always getting closer and closer to the line of indecency without ever crossing it..."

Maud made a buzzing noise. "Sorry, have to stop you there, you've exceeded my daily symbolism quota."
