"For now, let's say I might come back," Lyn concluded.  "At present, I think I'll go find Slope."

She stood up and tapped a button on her watch. "Slope-tan? You there?"

A series of blue rays were projected by the watch, which resolved into the 3D holographic image of a female face. It was a dark haired girl in a baseball cap, which sported a lowercase 'm' on it. Some strands of her hair curved out prominently from beneath it. "Lyn! Got time for a quickie?" the girl asked.

Lyn shrugged. "Fine. Give it to me straight."

"Guy starts with four matchsticks in a square, adds three on the end to make two squares, keeps going, wants sixty squares."

"Confirmed." Lyn tapped her watch again, the holograph vanishing as she then thrust her left arm out to the side. "Linear, transforming!"

The centre of the bow in Lyn's hair suddenly lit up, displaying the numeral '1', even as her watch began to flash a '3'. "Confirming rise and run," came Slope's voice.

Lyn's glasses slid slightly down her nose. "Sixty by you, partial variation, giving 181 matchsticks!" she declared.

Behind the bar, Maud applauded lightly. "That a standard transformation?"

"No, slope-intercept form," Lyn countered.
