"That's why Tangent said she knew you only in passing," Lyn realized, as Circe folded up the napkin she had been drawing on and tucked it away. "I can't believe I took so much for granted... I just HAVE to find Cotangent for her now!!"

"Well, she'd be in the West. Good luck with that," Circe concluded, as she had a bite of her pie.

"I get the impression finding her could take a couple days," Maud pointed out to Lyn. "Won't Tangent wonder what's happened to you?"

Lyn nodded. "Maybe, but I've recruited Para and the other Polynomials to keep her occupied," Lyn assured him.  "And Root will run interference on our communications."

Maud frowned. "But if you can't communicate, what if you get in trouble? Circe was just telling me how Trigonometry tended to use people."

The line pursed her lips slightly. "It's true," she admitted.  "Ever seen 'y= sin(x) + x'? She's just using me as her axis."

Circe swallowed her pie. "Yep, unless you're careful you could make a real asymptote of yourself."
