It's the Real McTanuki
I was shopping at a recycle store for more
vintage kimono material for The Fabric Goddess. She and others seem to covet my
plastic tanuki in my garden and they have been asking for one. I am searching
high and low but can only seem to find pottery ones which are too heavy to ship
overseas. Today when I visited the recycle shop, what did I happen to see but a
REAL (non)Live Stuffed Tanuki for sale!!! Holy Moly! I just had to take a photo
of this because I've never seen a stuffed one before! No, I'm not going to send
this to anybody so please don't ask (unless of course you want to pay me big
bucks for it!) I love you! Cam P.S. You will notice that real tanuki do not have
the monstrous testicles that the mythical ones seem to possess... I get the
feeling that the mythical tanuki was invented by "men with insecurity issues",
wouldn't you say?
A Taxidermy Dog (no lie!)
I found this dog in the entry way of an Austin
store called Uncommon Objects. It was just so bizzarre to me, that I had to take
the photo. The price tag said "Beloved Family Dog." I didn't pay attention to
the price, but this was for sale! Disturbing indeed!
