What is FIRST LEGO League?

FIRST LEGO League is a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) based program composed of three aspects, which are the robot, the project, and core values. Every season, there is a different theme that the project and robot is based on. Every year, the tasks are based on what the theme is. For example, in the Animal Allies season, the tasks were all about animals and helping them. FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. In the robotics aspect, you build and program a robot to accomplish tasks to get points. Each task is worth a different amount of points, and you have to get as many points as you can in two minutes. In the project aspect, you create an innovative solution that solves a problem related to the international theme/challenge. You then create a presentation where you talk about the solution. In the core values aspect, there are eight core values. They are we are a team, we do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors, we know our coaches and mentors don't have all the answers; we learn together, we honor the spirit of friendly competition, we share our experiences with others, we display gracious professionalism and cooperitition in everything we do, and we have fun!
