Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

YieldAbout 2 cups | Original Recipe on Taste As You Go


  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 2/3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/2 cup Hershey's Natural Unsweetened Cocoa
  • 1/3 cup milk (I used 1%)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


  1. Using a stand-mixer, beat the butter until fluffy.
  2. With the mixer running, add half of the powdered sugar and half of the cocoa. Add half of the milk.
  3. Add the remaining powdered sugar and remaining cocoa. Add the remaining milk and mix until the frosting has reached a spreading consistency.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and mix for an additional 10 seconds.
  5. Keep at room temperature until ready to use.
