    TASA YK

"Ey yükselen yeni nesil! Gelecek sizindir. Cumhuriyeti biz kurduk. Onu yüceltecek ve yaşatacak olan sizsiniz."

    Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK

    Dear TASA Members,

Today we celebrate THE COMMEMORATION OF ATATÜRK, YOUTH, AND SPORTS DAY. Every year on May 19th, Turkish Youth commemorates Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the day He officially began the Turkish Independence War against imperialist forces in 1919. On this day, it has become a custom all over Turkey for the youth to present their best works in sports, wearing colorful and cheerful outfits accompanied with music. Atatürk bequeathed the Republic that was His life's work to Turkish Youth, in His famous speech, "Atatürk Addresses the Youth." For He believed that new ideas such as democracy, secularism, women's suffrage, economic development, reforms in educational activities, progress in science and technology are relatively more easily accepted by the young minds.

    TASA AB

"We cannot let the youth remain attached to the ancient ways of thinking and at the same time be modern. The Republic will rise and live because of the youth and its young ideas."

    Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK
