TARNS - Tilford and Rushmoor Neighbours' Scheme
TARNS was formed in March 2012. We are a team of volunteers whose primary aim is to assist those living within our area who are less able than ourselves. We provide transport to appointments at the doctors, dentist, hospital, etc. for just a small donation. We will also help with shopping, collecting prescriptions, changing library books etc. If you have a need we will endeavour to help you – all you need to do is ask. We aim to complement the existing services, not replace them. We are a self-funding organisation relying on the donations of our clients to reimburse our volunteers for any expenses they incur.
The TARNS Helpline is usually manned between 10.00am and 5pm Monday to Friday; we are closed on Bank Holidays
If you are interested in helping within the organisation, either manning the phone or driving, we would like to hear from you.
If you think we may be able to help you please call our telephone helpline – 0772 101 3583 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday, where one of our Duty Officers will be waiting to take your call and answer any questions. I regret we are generally unable to receive your calls at weekends and Bank Holidays.
If you have a little spare time and would like to become a volunteer please call our helpline, and speak to our Duty Officer, who will pass on your details. We currently have about 40 volunteers who assist with driving clients to appointments, visiting them, shopping, and taking phone requests (in their own homes). If you feel you might like to become involved please give us a call – we always need more volunteers. All expenses, such as fuel costs, will be reimbursed.
